No worries.. I talk about low volume tone all the time.. It's easy to think that is all it can do.. In truth there is ZERO difference between the AXE going into a SS power amp and then into speakers as there is with a Tube amp into speakers.. No difference.

This is the maximum volume I play in my office.. Look at the channel volumes.

Beyond that it's 110 db... But, and this is key.. The Matrix is NOT dependent on tube saturation to produce it's overdrive. That is done by the Fractal. All we want the amp to do is produce the tone from the Fractal as it is.. Without changing it.. That's all clean headroom by the amp.. and 1000 watts of that. Well, in stereo operation we are ONLY looking at 150 watts per side.

How did the Power Station colour the tone? I thought it was transparent. :hmm:

Yawn, good morning (east coast US here)... I thought it was transparent as well. I suppose as attenuators go it's as transparent as one could hope for. However, when I compared it to my Fryette 2 90 2, my VHT 2 50 2 and then to my solid state Rocktron Velocity 300. They all sounded different. My research on the topic revealed that none of the tubed power amps available are truly flat response. Tubes all add their own color in some way. This is why some of us roll tubes.

However, for me I had in the power station a $700 device (I had the rack kit) that was mono by design, I wanted srereo, and it was mainly an attenuator which I would never need again. Considering I could sell it for most my money back. That is exactly what I did.

Enter the Matrix GT1000FX. Made in England and very highly rated, it provides exactly what modelers need. Flat full range response that is absolutely whisper quite and powerful. What you feed into it is what comes out.

The coloring of tone also shows up worse with speakers and cabinets. You would not believe the difference between a guitar speaker cabinet and FRFR monitors. It was so profound it caused me to rethink all the tube amps I had. When someone wants to replace their amp they almost always replace the head right? I mean you never hear of guys changing out cabinets. I believe after my trip down the path I am on, the cabinet plays an even more important roll in one's tone as the head does.

And if you don't believe me consider this. Have you ever had someone with a small combo amp say.....

"I plugged my combo into my 4 12 and WOW"

Of course you have. Now imagine the possibility of having 1000s of cabinets to play.

Sorry for the long post. This is what happens when I first wake up in the AM.. hahahahahah

Franky is into the new Modeling amp now, so he can select the song he wants to p0lay, "Bark at The Moon" and it will play the song for him while he "Strum-Sinks" the tune. And before that, he can press a button and the Robot Tuners will Tune his Guitar for him. Yup, Franky is a Time traveler. Like thew song, "Traveling in Time", Franky will have more surprises for us.

Hey all, anyone have any knowledge about the Mission Gemini 1 FRFR? A while back I remember predicting sim gear makers would start catering to BOTH amp users and modelers, being an undeniably huge market.

In my own tone quest, modeling (Line6various, Amplitube, Reason DAW) and tube amps have been coexisting happily for years. This isn't a "new" concept. It's just huge leaps forward in just about any category you want to discuss.

So many uses for both, independent and combined. This, or something very much like it just around the corner may be the icebreaker for me (my name getting to the top of the AXE8 list would probably seal that deal!)

Check this out, love to hear what you think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR1CGbcCawU&list=RDsR1CGbcCawU#t=54

Very good stuff. They utilize the same coaxial design as my passive XITONE wedges. I've them. The best cabs I have played out of.

I just recorded this.. It's a Taylor 910e preset and a Dumble ODS lead. I posted this in the modelers thread. It really should be here
