If you open up a steel lid in the street, the sort that are about 6: around and say "Water" on them, what you find under it several feet under the street surface is a square that looks exactly like the red one the man is turning.
That is the head of the isolation valve. Used so if there's a break, you can isolate the area or section of street so you don't have to shut off the entire neighborhood.
..But it doesn't turn so easy. And it's one full turn for every 3 inches of pipe diameter. It's a stone bitch. Frequently taking two full grown men on each side of the valve "wrench" to turn it, half a turn at a time, back it off, then 3/4 turn, etc.
Hopefully, getting the software to comply with Don's wishes won't be as hard.
On the bright side I got a response from Alex last night from a PM I sent him.... So they are still around, bless 'em!
