:dude: First things first: thanks to Kris Ford for helping weigh in on this bad boy I brought home from the local guitar shop today: Berkley Music Company in Berkley, MI. Thanks, Kris. :thumb:

Now let's get to the show.

Love the neck on this thing; thin enough at first position to get my thumb around the neck or make a nice full F barre chord. Then it thickens up nicely down the neck; so comfy.

As you can see, the prior owner had it converted to a stop tail and TOM. I will need to get a switch tip cover and the correct knobs. The vibrola is also included, but not installed. The case is a newer one; the shop said it was from a 1970s Firebrand SG.

We did a little time on the Silvertone 1442 amp today; glorious. Dig them P90s. :dude:

    HELL YES!
    Looks great man, nicely done!
I can help with the switch tip and knobs.:naughty:

You're very welcome, glad I could help!
The neck joint is the 3rd and final variant of the '69 joint, first was the enlongated flat heel, then the rounded club heel, then this one, which lasted into 1971.
Good stuff man, huge bonus that the correct vibrola was with it!:dude:

    Congrats,
Nice Special. I had a '68 Special I bought new in '69. It was the walnut finish. Really nice guitar, but that funky Maestro had to go almost immediately.
Play the hell out of it.:applause:

Right! I want to pull on that neck so badly, like Pete did, but I would be crushed if I broke it. Still, it is high time to work on some of those songs. Pete is one of my all-time faves (seeing the Who at the end of February with my 4 brothers and 1 brother-in-law); when I started looking for my SG, Pete's playing one (he played so many different guitars!) was only a very minor factor-- he has been playing Strats lately and who can forget all the LP Deluxes from The Kids Are Alright.

@boss addict and djjagdish: I see you have RO/GOs. I nearly traded my 1991 LP to get a 2008 GO (plus cash on my side). That really was a fine guitar, too.

I understand this is an LP forum, but wow is the SG body style just an ergonomic treat to play compared to an LP. It is nearly as comfy as a Strat. :applause:
