Hello everybody, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Alex and I like valve amps so much, I bought a guitar (a Fender HSS Strat) just to get a signal source for them. So I am not a guitar player in the traditional case and I never took a guitar lesson from a teacher. My intention to join this forum is to get hints for modifying my Marshall Class 5 amp (more gain, triode switch, master volume) and, just for the case I get the permission from my wife one day, to get some inspiration for my first self designed class A amp. Since I am not playing in a band, I need low wattage. In addition I also own a Fender Super Champ x2 head running into a 4x12 Crate. This thing is a little bit boring, since it has a solid state preamp with DSP section. However, I like the clean tone. For comparision, I use a chinese solid state amp called "StarFire" with round about 25 W into a low efficiency 8" speaker, clean and distortion channel as well as real spring reverb. Greetings, Alex P.S.: I have some experience in electronics due to my profession as an engineer.
