Saw that in Dallas,I figured it was a look alike
Absolutely! I've honestly laughed my way through half of the comments. I mean, in case someone didn't notice, the dude is kind of a big deal, like it or not.
And it's not like all Bursts belong to Page or The Reverend, as much as I love those guys. At the end of the day, Kirk put a chunk of cash down and is playing what he paid for the way he likes, because it's his guitar and not mine, and I'm just as jealous as everyone here but though shit.
That things deserves to be out on the wild making what it's supposed to be doing, and seeing it there should make any real LP fan happy.
Also, is that Paul Rudd with "Gary Moore" written under his picture?
Saw it last night in Seattle too
His lead tone on Fade to black sounded awesome with it
He actually played it quite a bit last night
Whenever I see someone talk about how this guitar is wasted in Kirk's hands this is what I really see:
Kurt isn't my favorite player, but he can still play better than most people ever will. He's successful and seems like a pretty cool guy honestly. No reason not to think it's cool he's playing an iconic vintage guitar.....Metallica is a good group of musicians even if they are a little douchy, and I used to listed to them a lot!
The success is not being critiqued - there is no denying that he is successful. What IS up for debate is whether Greeny, in his hands, speaks with a voice that is on par with that elicited from it by Peter or Gary.
He plays good music on it. Why be critical?
To state the obvious - tone is subjective. To many metal fans this guitar sounds best in Kurt Hammock's hands rather than Peter Beano or Barry More's.
Maybe if Kirk were wearing a rubbery looking black top hat it would be okay?
Did nobody tell him he's only allowed to play schmoozy dad blues on it when he bought it ?
Somebody alert the blues police already.
Seriously ? All the hate for this guy is ridiculous. He is a great guitar player, remember he also doubles the rhythm parts in Metallica. And I'd rather see that guitar in a real players hands than in a museum. And the Metallica guys have great respect and admiration for vintage gear, do you really think they'd put EMGs into a real burst ? Come on ...
That guitar couldn't be in better hands. Stop being so snobbish...
And does it really matter if the music is not the same as PG or GM played with it???
Honestly, some people could whinge for their country.
Interesting video...Phill Harris and Greeny.
How does one pronounce 'whinge'? WINJ? WYNJ? WING?
I have to know!
The fact that some people think Hammet is not worthy of his own guitar makes it even better IMO. What a load of bollocks.
I haven't seen Metalica live since the mid nineties. I should check them out again.
Here's Greeny in Seattle a few days ago
The Metallidudes have a bunch of Bursts. Always good to see a bird uncaged and flying free!
I honestly wish he would put emgs in it. The amount of crap he gets for simply buying a guitar played by one of his idols is a joke. Give the little whiny trolls something to actually bitch about.
The beginning of the word "WHere" and the ending of the word "hINGE."
To complain in a whiny fashion.
Kirk is a big fan of blues guitarists. I remember watching the Cunning Stunts DVD bonus features a few years back and there was a scene where he was playing "Hideaway", so I'm pretty sure that when he's home the guitar gets plenty of blues jams. Obviously when Kirk's playing in concerts he's going to be playing Metallica songs, and it's a little odd to me to hear people complain about his tone considering Metallica's sound has been highly coveted within the metal genre in the past.
People are allowed to enjoy a variety of styles of music, from metal to blues to polka. If the instrument is of the highest quality, it might as well be used to play multiple genres in different contexts and it might as well be in the hands of a professional musician like Mr. Hammett.
