While I have not seen many people saying Gibson should make less guitars, I agree with some aspects of this. I'm also a relatively new customer of Gibson CS and I do not like the "WTF a Gold Top für 6k!?!??? Glad I have what I got" thing. (On the other hand, who cares?) Times change and If 6k is what it takes to get a nice Gibson CS guitar in 2017 then so be it. I'm OK with that. (Man, that sounds terrible!) Sure, it'd be nice if the same guitar cost 60 percent of that, but why even think about that possibility? It *would* be nice if the iPhone X was 599, it *may* even be more reasonable, but it just is 999. Personally I'd be very sad if the only option for a Gibson instrument is what the US line currently offers. A Standard might be great indeed, but I'm just a sucker for the aesthetics* of a Custom Shop Burst or BB or … Like Andy California, I will probably always prefer to buy new from a dealer. We'll see. Lots of interesting psychological issues involved on either side, I think. Crotch said it well: All of this doesn't have to be too serious.
