That Larson cartoon reminds me an an old salesman from Gibson - Ben Rhodes. Famous amongst us back in the '90s. He was a short, bespeckled old guy... had a gruff voice.... he had been an appliance salesman back in the '40s but with Gibson was consistently the highest selling rep we had. We joked that he really COULD sell ice to the eskimos. He had a real relationship with all of his dealer (Southeast region)....and a real affinity for KFC. His by-invitation-only "Chicken Luaus" at NAMM and quarterly sales meetings in Nashburg were legendary. He would say "I'm going to buy a chicken farm... and eat it", lol. He was finally honored by Henry by having the Ben Rhodes excellence award that was given to high performing sales reps - that is, until he fired almost all of them. Ben was just the nicest guy.
