The pink comes from the copper. When it's not oxidized, it has a reddish pink color. The coating on the wire keeps it fresh looking. Older wire that was more purple or red had a different tint in the wire coating, which is why you see that in PAFs and T-Tops. By the late 60s and well through Norlin years, the wire changed a bit and the coating went clear.

That SG Special would have come with P-90's. someone has replaced them with the mini-hum's. The wire looks more reddish in a black T-Top bobbin. But those Nylon bobbins would take more abuse and fit better in the mini's. The stickered mini's would have been made before late 1974/1975. That's when they were stamped on the bottom like the full size T-Tops.

What I assumed to be chewed up bobbin is actually chewed up wire...pink wire at that.

That is the top of the cover of the SG-I type mini, it was like a bakelite type material..I used a screwdriver to break the cover. It kinda shattered off..
They're epoxy potted...what you see is the pink wire, that I thought was bobbin..

You're the reason why prices on these things keep going up. Thank you for making my things more valuable by not giving a shit about historical integrity.

    Dude??????:wtf:
I told you it was dead to begin with, (0.0 reading on multimeter) the mounting tabs were broken, and the leads were cut short..ZERO value. That was just a stock pic...mine was JUNK..so zero harm doing what I did.And ask a few folks..I'm ALL about historic integrity...

Nice elitist attitude by the way. You just showed your true colors when all I was trying do was learn something...FOR historic integrity...

Ha! Man, tone is everything in conversation. It was intended as a joke, the same way you'd say it if you were going to punch someone in the arm afterward and give them shit.

    Relax, dude! It's cool.

    Yeah really!

Anyways..I DO care about that stuff..but I am also not opposed to see how something ticks, if it is beyond repair.
