Left Paw, I read it. That is what it says. "really isn't vintage" . I didn't write it. Changed tailpiece and tuners don't erase vintage value if the good stuff is there imho. Finish/ p-ups electronics trump all else to me.

Nope, I am having the same conversation I have been the whole time. There is more to it than worth "vintage money" or not . What does that even mean? 100% original? I wouldn't want it even if it has original pups and electronics. I just know it would be worth more than what others have said if it did. Anyway what the hell happened to the OP on this?

OK, so Pete... so we may just have to agree to disagree. I think Left Paul nailed it and I fear Bill is correct. The real answer, as we all seem to see it lies in the pups. They could make it worth close to vintage money. Aside from that, it's just not. Vintage is vintage and whether we think it's right or fair, it is what it is. We didn't write the rules, but when the next owner goes to sell it, he'll have to play by them. I stand firm in my opinion on that based on experience I had with a near perfect '68 330 that was 100% other than a pup upgrade and a strap button. The pup thing I sorta understood and knew going in. I was expecting dirty looks when they saw upgraded pups. I was shocked when a couple of em flipped it over and gave me a huge head shake and told me "Man, I can't believe you put a strap button on there. You shouldn't have done that". Seriously????? Evidently, yes. Vintage is vintage. A cool player is a cool player.....but it's worth a couple grand less.
