It hasn't been painted .
Has 5 latches and domed top
maybe a prototype
Doesn't smell moldy either. Just old
see it has the Gibson Tag as well
This case is dark Brown ?
I've seen these occasionally.
It's all original. It's lifton... It has five latches. They did make some in that tolex and lining colour. Perhaps they had a shortage of pink plush and brown vinyl. It would really suit a darkback goldtop or tobacco-burst LP.
Is it your case HolyGrail?
There was one on Ebay recently. Is that the one?
Thanks FlameBurst ! Yes it's mine.
I got this a while back on the bay.
Cool stuff. If you don't mind me asking, how much? I've got an old burst case (4 latch cali-girl/brown/pink lining). I may be tempted to sell it, seeing as I'll never get an original burst to fit inside it! I bought mine off ebay some time ago thinking I might stumble across someone who makes 100% replica LP guitars...?
flameburst ~ Too damn much ! lol
I've had the normal 4 latch 50's LP Cases too and sold them.
Post some picts of your case . We'd all like to see it !
Don't think so negatively, you just might own a Burst some day.
Keep looking around for a Repro. A Max just sold on ebay for 13K !
Okay, here's a multiple shot. It's a cali-girl 4 latch Lifton case. It's been carefully cleaned up a bit from when I got it. I'd like to know the exact year - if anyone knows???
That's a Beautiful example of a " Real Cali Girl Case "
Some think just because they're pink on the inside and tan on the out
make all the cases Cali Girl Cases . Notice on yours , the deep body taper.
BTW ~ I live in Cali. Lot oh HOT Babes.
I don't know that anyone could tell you the exact year.
Thanks for posting FlameBurst !
I would still like to find an original brown/pink 5 latch case. I know they crop up now and again, but shite - you could buy another Historic for some o the prices. Yeeiiks!
I must get out to Cali one day. It's been a lifelong dream. When (if ever) I have some G.A.S. money, I'll do a month out there. I also want to visit the guitar shops in NY and Gruhn's, etc.
My 58 Special was in one of those dark 5 latch cases, without the Gibson tag.
Greg~ I guess anything is/was possible with Gibson .
a darkburst would be at home in that rare badboy
Here's the case after Case integrity was restored , Plus some preservation .
I didn't want to go too far, but wanted to strike an even balance.
Ahhh... the 'ol woodglue, acrylic paint and boot polish trick, hey?
Seriously, match the acrylic paint colour and buff off with some approximate coloured boot polish and it will come up a treat!
