Has anybody here recently bought a 2014 or older Historic Reissue?

Recently all I'm seeing are NGD's with 2015-2107 guitars. Not a problem with that. But it would be nice to hear some stories and see some pictures of 2014 and older R's changing hands this year. I feel like this section is losing life. Let's jumpstart it with some eye candy. As always flame is more than welcome.

I would kick it off. However I came up empty on my recent R9 quest. I'm hoping other's were more fortunate than me.

I've only ever bought Historics older than that. :)

I got a '93 R7 this year. It had a Historic Makeover done sometime in the last couple of years.

    I love it!

Black, IMO, never goes out of style. That aging is killer too.

What you see is the reflection of the market overall.

Some (not a lot in my opinion) buyers out there buying new/NOS leftovers - at reduced prices...while the used market is dead.

No buyers so few sellers offering products of interest - no one wants to be the guy with a 4 month old FS thread...the few unique pieces get snapped up - but “run of the mill” topped R9s and R8s sit unsold. A bling top used to be the ticket, but even that’s a tough sale.

Market should inch up and peak around March, between new products bringing more used out into inventory, the shift away from outside/summer hobbies and the year end bonus/Xmas/tax refund season - the cold months are typically where the money comes out. Of course after the last 2 years - who knows..it’s been slow for a while.

Actually I do not find your guitars boring at all. I'll let you in on a little secret, your guitars, Jimmy Ace and a few others on here, including the '97 big top R8 a.k.a. the Great White Buffalo and some early Murphy painted examples were the templates in my mind when I started my ultimate sunburst R9 purchase quest several months ago. Long story short it's not easy, actually impossible to find such an R9 where all the pieces come together for under 4k. I don't blame for minute the owners of those guitars I inquired about for not letting them go. I too would not sell them for what I was looking to pay. I'm gonna save my cash and see where things go early next year. I'm thinking to get something that really quenches me I'm probably gonna have to forget about "the deal" and come in strong, closer to 5k. I hate to pay guitar show prices. But if that's what it takes to land the right R9 keeper so be it.

I absolutely love this thing. It's almost spookily close to my ideal dirty lemon fade. Just a blinder.

I wouldn't own any historic that new as I prefer the older ones. Here's a boring looking 2006 R7 I picked up in April....

    Thanx man!

What you'll find is the need for more...Guarantee it...Me and a few others here have chewed through a few of them just to find "the Right fit" and let me tell you, I wish I had the income to keep nearly all of them...a few I let go right away just because the neck wasn't right or something felt off to my style of playing (strictly a personal choice) ...I'm glad I had those experiences. I know which I'd buy back in a second if I saw them again.

Don't pay 5k....not worth it....remember they are just guitars and one is almost just as good as the other. Unless your really in for the top and color .....Which is important to me .,....but not nearly as much as how I "blend" with a guitar.

If one of mine interests you, let me know.....

I saw it....I also bid on one on the flebay.....(without knowing the neck size.....breaking my own strict rule) but I was on vacation and forgot to be there for final bid.....DOH!
