Have 231403 have any idea?
I'm going to guess its a 1992, the 31,403 guitar hamer made, kindof. Try here, About Hamer Guitar Serial Numbers
I did see that but wasn't really sure.Thanks.
If you go through the list of registered serial numbers, there are a few within 100 numbers of yours that are from that year. Is yours a special by any chance?
Yes wine red 2 P-90's
I guess I should go register it over there.
Nice! Here's my 1980 Special.
I need one of those now!!
The sustainblock really makes these guitars come alive. And with the older one-piece honduran body, she is as warm and sweet as a good bitch can be.
Don't register there-that's a dead link. I maintain (and always have since the beginning in 1996) the Hamer Registry. What is posted on the site is just a fraction of what I have registered, I just have never found anyone able to properly set it up.
Email me directly to add a guitar.
Hamer had two serial number systems: Four Digit serials and the standard production serials. Four Digit serials started with "0000" (Rick Nielsen's sunburst Standard) and ran to about 0750 between 12/74 and 1985.
The production numbers started in 1977 with the introduction of the Sunburst model "7 0000". The first digit is the second digit of the production year and the rest of the serial indicates the Hamer production number. Production is very limited now (basically all custom orders like it was in the beginning) and the numbers are something like 156000 for a 2011 model. Numbers were originally ink stamped between 1977 and 1987 and with the introduction of bolt-on superstrat models in 1987, they impressed the numbers into the wood, which they continue to do today.
Yours is a 92.
How about this underrated guitar maker ?!
Very few informations, here in Europe.
One piece body ? Medium/long tenon ?!
1981 Hamer Special
Does this mean we have to post pics of our Hamers now ?
My book on Hamer (Schiffer Books) is on its way to the printer. Should hit he streets in 4-6 weeks. It is the only accurate history of Hamer Guitars out there.
Tons of awesome pics too!
That book f'in ROCKS.
Hey, I came across an old electric guitar, I believe it may be a 79' maybe an 80' ... but it's a black sunburst hamer USA, I don't have much to go off of, and I'm not sure where to start but I'd love to find out more about this guitar in hopes to sell it for a fair price, the serial number is 9 0657.. any information would help, thanks
