Some are more full of shit than others.
I am not downing him, but I really dont understand the die-hard devotion that he has by many people...
I thought I would give him a second chance and bought the live Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood album...I still cant make it few more than a few songs without falling asleep
dont you know clapton is god...
so i heard..
i aint a believer
MUSE is an amazing band! Great voice, great playing, nothing wrong about Muse! Mathew Bellamy rocks the guitar how only he can!
i think i don't get myself...

So many aspects of her music I don't like, and now she started playing guitar?!
Wow, so many people dont care for Clapton? I have to admint I used to be the same way, until I dug a little deeper. If you get passed all his normal, I guess you could call his 'popular' songs there is gold to be found. His album "From the Cradle" is a must have for blues fans, its his only all blues album, and very good (live I may add). Yeah hes one of those artists that can ride on all his hits, but I give him credit for still playing his more obscure stuff, and still making music today.
Gary Moore, I dont think hes overrated, hes very talented, and one of the only guitarists that can play nearly every genre of guitar music there is. I actually had never heard of him until I started getting into Rory Gallagher and Clapton more.
BUT hold off on Blackmore, if anything he is in the top three most underappreciated guitarists the world has seen (Rory Gallagher being another), I think a lot of people owe a lot to him for his wide sphere of playing ability (wether you like him or not). He is truly a man that actually doesnt get the credit that he really deserves.
As for Jeff Beck, you got me there, I never got him either
Yeah Hendrix showed how preposterous that statement was
Particularly, it is styles that I can't get, not guitarists.
In my opinion, any guitarist, from the 3-chord guys to the most accomplished and finest musicians, deserves my respect, after all he's done it, he recorded his music, he created something out of something.
If someone can have 60 thousand people in a stadium with 3 chords, well, who am I to say I don't get him?
Now, what I really don't like is shredding, which I find much too acrobatic, and "too clean" music, like some modern jazz guitar styles. Sometimes I can't tell the guitar lines from the robotic backing track that's behind, for Christ's sake!
The guitar should be played raw and with its own defective character... Playing the guitar is like making sex. If it's too mechanical, too coordinated, educated and timed, it's no fun at all. Hell, overdrive was created from overcranking up amps
As for Page and Slash, well, I respect those who don't particularly like them, but they made me like rock n roll. So...
for me the stand out is peter green. i know he is loved and revered on this website, it has actually made me put on my fleetwood mac greatest hits on a number of times to try to see what the big deal is. as much as i try he just does nothing for me.

For me it's the photocopy solo's of Carlos Santana.
Man, the epic threads nowadays, with thirty pages in five days, are so much better than this old-timer horseshit.
The guy in the Dumble amp vids Henry Kaiser, I have no shame in saying I don't get it
Well it is like this. You either get it or you don't. If you don't now you might get it years from now. There are a lot of variables invovled. Age, intellect, experience and ability. Someone who I "get" right away is that Proudfoot kid. Damn, that is what it is gonna take for someone to stand out in the future. Something strikes everyone's monkey nerve. Shoot, there is a new Michael Monroe vid out that is real cool, just came out. Killer everything, textbook, a bible of how it is done. Find some old Magic Sam, you'll get it. Listen to it all, you will eventually get it. Shoot, I even get The Black Veil Brides!
Whoever the hell it is that plays for Rush...I can't even bother to learn his name. Lots of notes, leaves me cold.
And Metallica, too...the whole damn band.
