The Modern Standard actually had a really flamey top (I got to ask for the guitars to be demo'd by serial #) but for some reason it didn't show in the video. As for price, the Modern Standard is $3999 MAP and the Standard is $6499 MAP so that's a significant difference.

Crap. He's so good. Both guitars sound great when he plays them.

Ok that is a huge spread. I thought it sounded like both guitars were closer price wise when Greg asked.

I preferred the 1st one. But I do wonder if that is just down to the pickups

To me, a chambered LP tends to sound like the perfect middle ground between a Les Paul and a 335. That said, I'm not sure the middle ground is worth mining when you can just have ... a Les Paul and a 335. I want bite from the bridge (not necessarily Tele on steroids twang) and at least a bit of edge on the neck. Chambered LPs seem to generally sound a little too round in the bridge and bit spongy in the neck for me.

I would like to have one, just to have one, though.

Yea, the problem with Greg's demos is he can make a cardboard box with rubber bands on it sound good!
