Breaking News: Gibson to Reproduce Eric Clapton
What, no onboard effects???
I keed, I keed!!!
I hope its expensive and not vintage correct.
Now still with the negative comments ???!! Gibson is damned if they do & DAMNED IF THEY DON'T
im sure it will be pricey how much do you guys guess?
$8-9,000 minimum I would guess.
Soooooo, there was a speculative thread on this very subject a few days back now that somehow vanished in which I was playing the optimist and saying that if there was ever a cherishable re-issue this would be it.
WTF happened to that thread?
They're going to make a G0 with a certificate and inflated price tag? .... I see
I understand it's one of the most important Les Pauls (in my opinion anyway)... but I'm really interested in what they actually have in this that will set it apart from a regular thin-neck plain top. As there is really nothing that sets this apart? sometimes an open coil neck pup... but it's white? so they can't do that...
Atleast they can't make aged versions of this... I would think.. seen as they can't see the original / original back then didn't have any unique aging.
That is very interesting news.
Gibson pulling a rabbit out of the hat as I predicted ........Dec 11

Here is one in action
I aint a fan but if they made a kossoff LP I wouldnt want one....It's a bit weird.....and I think if people could ask kossoff what do you think? He would prob say yeah that is a little weird. Comes back to the 'dont be lazy, be original' thing which I just made up.
Imitation to me has really lost it's shine after having the aim to learn both solos for thin lizzys still in love with you (live and dangerous version) before I die..Which I did and having played it at what turned out to be very special occations and tributes I am happy I did learn it and do it justice but I have not learned any songs like that for a long time. I dont even really practice anymore either. I got to a stage where I was really seeing a flowering take place in my playing but now.......It's more frustration than anything.
I cant figure out whether Id managed to convince myself that I really love playing guitar or am now coming to the realisation that, in fact I dont.........hmm............Que the tumble weed.....
A G0 with double whites in the neck position for 8000-9000 ?
This POS will be at least 16K.
They can't get vintage specs right and they are somehow going to duplicate a guitar that may no longer exist?
Good luck reproducing tone from a photograph.
I'm guessing because this is EC's first with Gibson as far as LPs go, it will rival JP#1 in price and in demand. I might consider one...
I will add,
although EC isn't as influential as Page with an LP, EC is still performing and IMO has had a bigger impact on the world of music as we know it.
Aaaaannnd they won't use double whites. Guaranteed.
hold your horses.... the Beiber Burst comes out on Dec. 12...
YESSS!! I already have my JB Burst on order!!
What is JB you ask?
Wow, this is cool but confusing! Has not ECs LP been missing in action for decades? I mean Pages LP is around and can be inspected, Bloomfields & Gibbons too. So they could only speculate about the specifics of Erics LP right? I mean Eric could tell them what he remembers and maybe get some of the details right but
They really cant do much more than an R0 can they? I think it is cool thing to have a Beano LP but if they cant examine it to replicate it, I dont see much value. Seems like the Cream era SG would be a better idea (maybe they have already done it.)
However, it is cool that they honor EC and that iconic LP in my opinion. I wont have one though. It was hard enough to choke down a used R9 so I think I am done!
