I know Gibson isn't fond of pulling old ledgers to scan, most likely for two reasons. 1. It's a pain in the ass and 2. Opening, scanning, shuffling through old ledger books degrades them.

It would be cool if Gibson would allow somebody to digitize all of the old ledgers they have. It would be a big job, but well worth the effort.

They did allow it for the 1933 - 1945 books.

    I thought I had a J-35 - Gibson Guitar Board

    3. They can photoshop then alter them and gain providence for fakes.

At least that should be a reason.

I agree having a central web accessible depository for these so that they can be referenced and cross checked to avoid fakery.

Worked like a charm! Thanks for the guidance. I hope you all find this useful. I have to say I was thrilled. My 68 shipped from Gibson 7 days after I was born. :dude:

Considering the OP has 8 posts since joining in 2010, and hasn't been here since 2014.....you might not get too far with that.

Would love to see it happen, but...

Greg is perfectly right, has nothing to do with the OP, just Photobucket who's restrictions destroyed this thread, as nobody can see the pictures anymore, or at least most users can't, including me.

I can repost the scan of the ledger referring to my (former) 1961 ES-335 which left the Kalamazoo factory just one day before I was born in 1961.

It's a scan Gibson kindly made for me and I highlited the row my ES is listed in

I realized yesterday those serial numbers sounded familiar. Realized at the same time i misread the ledger entry. Clearly not specials but the first bursts.
