    Hi Folks

I have a 89 Gibson Junior with its original pickup, and a 2016 Junior with its original pickup, the 89 just blows the 16 away. Has Gibson got a ‘standard’ set up for its P90’s or do they vary? I expected some difference, but the 89 has chime and power in bucketloads.

I am not sure, but my R6 sounded different and more aggressive than my 50’s Tribute LP, and similarly different to my Lou Pallo LP. I was under the impression that Gibson only makes one P90 (excluding the P100 stacked humbucker). In theory, they should about as consistent as typical production pickups.

The Gibson P90’s really are pretty decent, but I swapped them out for fuller sounding pups. the R6 and the Lou Pallo both have Wolfetone Mean/Meaner P90 sets with JonesyBlues harnesses and they sound great. Ok, the Lou Pallo actually has a Mean P90 and a Timbre Wolfe HB in the bridge, but it’s and unusual guitar.
