Allot of links don't work.
$1,000. for a faded studio with dot inlays?
oh for real GFYS.
I'm so glad I already have good Les Pauls and don't need to think about buying one ever again. Holy shit. I remember when these were like $600. with metal covered burstbuckers and actual trapezoid inlays.
Now it's "cheap looking" open coil plastic pups, dot inlays and no pokerchip for $1,000. ? Hol_Lee_Cry'st
Which one ?
I i was looking at the SG bass, and tried to follow more info link which wemt to ..sorry..etc. seemed broken, or no existent.
I got my 2017 SG Standard for $1,169. Actually did pretty good on that one, they fvked me hard on my Les Paul though, never again.
honestly $1,000. for a faded studio with dot inlays sort of blows my mind, ..and actually makes me a little angry because that's such bullshit.
That is a $500. guitar
maybe if Gibson would stop wasting millions on Fireturd R&D and stupid acquisitions they wouldn't have to turn around and stick it to the guitar players to try and recoup their extreme losses. Wasn't R&D for the FireturdX like $13 million? And no one wanted that ugly crap guitar. So that's just millions flushed down the toilet.
They're going to make it up from somewhere. So they'll charge $10,000. for 'really really accurate this time no really we mean it' Historics, and crap like a $1,000. faded Studio.
It's not even a gloss studio or one with actual inlays,..it's a faded with dots!
That's a $500. guitar, $600. tops!
Gibson has drank its own Kool-Aid
BUY USED! Collectors keep their Gibsons in mint condition! BUY USED!
You have to know that a HUGE percentage of guitar buyers are not forum rats like us.
I'm sure Gibson will make a ton of money with all the sheep "adding to cart".
Pretty smart move, actually.
you're looking at a pickup and electronics upgrade . most likely the tuners . WTF is a Tektoid nut ( ? ) . and a bridge upgrade wouldn't be the worst idea . . .
I think it's a nice looking guitar though ( wasn't this a Studio model a few years ago ? ) . and the dot inlays wouldn't matter to me , since I would black them out and stain the fretboard anyway . I like the blank look
The best thing about online stores is that old guys can't pee in them...
A store in the 70's maybe.
Maybe I'm out of the loop buy many of those brands were home audio heavyweights back in the day. Plenty of homes were stocked with that gear and there were plenty of audio chain stores that sold it.
These days I'm not really seeing much demand.
Yeak: Virtual Pee ..
Some nice guitars, and some of them are WAY over-priced. Some are almost pretty reasonable (even though I refuse to buy new).
Not online but I've wondered why Fender hasn't opened a few factory stores in markets like NYC, LA, CHI, NSH, etc.
They have enough product diversity with guitars, amps, audio, accessories and even apparel to have stellar stores IMHO.
My local GC is lucky to have six guitars total between their MIA Fenders, Charvel, Jackson, Gretsch and EVH line.
Back to Gibson
Why in the _ _ _ _ is a LP Jr. $280 more than a Tribute???
But we can pee while we're in them.
yeah...probably. Oh well, good for them,...I guess.
they're supposed to be self-lubricating but reports say they're 'sticky',....which is exactly what you want in a Les Paul nut right? Not like people ever have issues with the G string binding in the slot.
man I gotta abandon thread. I don't come here to talk guitars
Or buy NOS. The G-Force has saved me a nice a nice bit of change on my Les Paul Trad Classic, and that along with the Les Paul scribble saved my wife a boatload of dollars on the Special (which I really like a lot) she gifted to me. Also a friend picked up an ES something from the Memphis factory clearance. Brand new, slight blemish, marked way down and being sold as floor models.
There seem to be ways to get Gibsons for reasonable prices by keeping you eyes open and with a little luck.
The Cakewalk aquisition went well........
I don't mind faded guitars, I have a faded Les Paul Jr myself. But Gibson is ruining my opinion of them with their latest cheaply built faded models.
Kind of makes the line "Only a Gibson is good enough" laughable.
I still very much like the 2012 Brown Studio Faded and will most likely pick one up one day. All the specs are nice, they look cool (and rugged).
They were selling for about $500-$600 but I guess since those turds at Gibson raised prices again now people want $700 for them.
Seriously Gibson raises prices by hundreds a year. It's bullshit. The jump in Gibson prices over the past ten years has been ridiculous to witness.
I love my Gibsons,..but the company seems more and more like assholes every year.
