It's real.....not a fake. Gibson produced a hand full of these prototypes by hand in the Kalamazoo plant as a promotion item. After the public showed there was a demand for the map guitar Gibson changed the bridge and controls to a 3 knob configuration before the factory line production model was made at the Nashville plant in 84. Also made a painted one (stars and stripes) and of course the natural finish.
The prototypes were built in 82 and early 83.
Educate yourself before you go calling it a fake.
Google it and you'll find both versions.
    Very sweet collectors piece.

We sold this guitar last year at what I thought was a ceiling price- nowhere near 8k, so I think the seller's opinion on the value of these guitars is optimistic. They're still cool and don't last long here.

That would actually be a big hit down here, utes are just drooled over by a certain section of the car crowd here. Not my cuppa tea though.

Not part of the Norlin myth....however... it is a Gibson. Received authentication back from Gibson based on detailed pics submitted...including truss rod cavity and pots / wirring cavity. It all matches for their official authentication. Even the serial numbers indicates Kalamazoo made.:dude:

I almost bought one in 83 that had been in the shop for a while. But I'm a lefty so I went with an 83 SG for $750.00. The shop owner told me I could have it for $500.00 w/case and just hold on to it. Coulda, shoulda, woulda..... I still have the SG so I still win.
