with Kirk Hammett playing a Gibson V and James Hetfield playing a Gibson Explorer I always kind of wondered how Gibson managed to fck that up.
It was like in between Justice and The Black Album they both suddenly jumped ship to ESP.
I have 2 gibsons but my best guitar is a bill kelliher ltd eclipse
"Kids would get my guitar in the mail and ask me how to tune it because it wasn't tuned and then I would tell them how to tune it and they would say it still doesn't sound right and it's because they're not putting my gauge strings on there.
"They weren't even tuning the guitars to my settings or specifications – just little things like that. Things that make the guitar a Bill Kelliher model, like put it in my tuning so that when it shows up.."
He's expecting general production guitars(ones shipped to regular customers) to show from the factory/warehouse in tune/tuned to his spec..
he kind of sounds like a cry baby to be honest. there's no denying that gibson doesnt give a sh*t anymore though.
If he's being quoted in the proper context then hell yes...snowflake material.
I could understand bitching about F-ing up the actual build specs he wanted..
But strings/tuning and basic setup stuff?
Isn't that what he's probably paying a tech to do?
true, but when you tell Gibson, "I do not want a Chambered guitar" and they hand you a Chambered guitar, it's pretty obvious they're not listening and/or don't give a sht.
Or they've got too many chambered guitars to get rid of?
Haha, and hoped he wouldn't notice.
See I think the problem is exactly opposite of what this guy says… It is not that they need to get away from the same models that they've made since the 50s etc. etc.
In my Opinion what they need to do is go back to those same four or five models they made in the 50s and quit all this other bullshit....
I wonder, does Bill not have a tech that knows how to change strings and set up his guitars???
Hail, everything I've ever seen says when you get a guitar, either from the factory, or secondhand… One of the first things you probably always will have to do is….doc what, boys?
A set up..... That's correct boys, a SET UP......what a bunch of sissies.
Henry does enough stupid stuff that we can get him legitimately…… No sense in poking him over stupid stuff.
I resisted the temptation.
Bill and Brent are the best guitar duo next to K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton.
Talking out his ass.
I don't care about any of this, but this moron doesn't know shit from shinola.
As soon as I found this is the guy who "found a goldtop in a dumpster".... I gave up. That guy's opinion means nothing to me.
As far as riffs writers, I put him up there with Iommi and Matt Pike.
The guy in the video keeps calling him Bill Keeler. Umm, dude, the name is Bill Kell-i-her. (written phonetically for your benefit)
There are two things that are true for sure.. Gibson is going downhill and artists have been leaving them for quite sometime.
