I don't know if Gibson has ever made anything similar to a Gibson Explorer custom, like they do with the Les Paul Custom. I could be wrong, but man I would buy an explorer with custom style binding with an ebony fretboard with block inlays in a heartbeat! I'm not talking about those explorer pros they made with that, I'm talking full-sized explorer goodness. :naughty:

I know some of the E2's had a custom look and feel to them, but I'm talking full on Explorer Custom. Anyone with me? :dude:

I know they recently made something like this for Lzzy Hale from Halestorm, but come on Gibson! Make it for the rest of us, just don't put so much gold on it and offer some other colors!

Crap... I'd buy her model if they offered it and change out the excessive gold! :laugh2:

Hey--I think that's Lizzy Hale of Halestorm, except I'm not quite sure...

    WOAHHH!!!!!! :wow::wow::wow:
    I'd love one thanks.

Yeah, a Explorer Custom in Wine-red or a Black Beauty.
I'd still want all the gold hardware though. But that's just me. :dunno:

If they could do it with the 58-style Vs, why wouldn't they do it with the Explorers? I know it sure would be awesome if they did.

Yeah I would love a black beauty styled one, but with a 5-ply Black/White pickguard! :dude:

I just don't like the gold pickguard and pickup rings on hers. Just seems like overkill. I'm fine with the gold hardware.

Yeah that makes no sense to me as well. They can make a custom styled V, but no Explorer? :hmm:

Look for an Xplorer Pro - made in 2002-2004. I had one - neck is just like a Les Paul Custom (ebony with block inlays) - available in trans black and trans amber typically. Here's a pic of one -

Thanks for the suggestion, but I used to own one of the sunburst explorer pros they put out in 2007. It didn't have the ebony and blocks, but I couldn't stand the smaller body. So it got sold.

I want Gibson to make a full-size explorer custom! :thumb:

These were kinda interesting, just a lot of gold going on. Even has gold fret wire. Not sure how you deal with that when it starts pitting. :hmm:

Anyone have any experience with one of these?

I love the looks of these and the Traditional Pros etc. But, Gibson keeps getting that crazy idea that anybody would want smaller V and Explorer bodies. I don't know who is smoking what over there, but give me a full sized version of both and they would be on my wall right now, but the miniature versions are just.....well, mini. lol

I put blocks in my fretboard when I built mine. I think they look good, and I think that Custom is awesome.

The only things that kill the Lizzy Hale model for me are the pickguard and pickup rings. I'd be tempted to change them to black

    I agree 100%. :thumb: :applause:

I doubt they will manufacture her model for the masses though.
