    Hey,

Was in process of buying a Custom Ebony with Chrome from Sweetwater when my sales guy emails and tells me that one guitar has a glob of glue or some something and the other one that they have has a chip in the binding of the first fret. I have read about the Gibson Quality issues but is this something I should expect on most of the guitars?

I would ask for pictures and a better deal if you can live with the flaws,
or request another guitar. Stand firm, if they don't comply then you could
try a place like Sam Ash, who are very customer friendly. Good luck.

Very cool that Sweetwater told you in advance.

It's really disheartening to hear that the CS stuff has quality issues as well. It's par for the course on a lot of Nashville guitars, but we're seeing some of that creep over to the Custom Shop. Once again kudos to Sweetwater.

If you can get a hefty discount, the one with binding issues could be fixed by melting some binding material to it with acetone and sanding flush.
