Looks like white plastic binding to me.

Binding and nibs are like any other USA Gibson Les Paul. These are nice guitars with a nice 50 rounder neck profile. Cons, at least for me, its the satin finish that feels pretty cheap.

The 50s neck appeals to me, and the good colours

Take a nice micro fiber cloth with some polish and elbow grease and you can turn that satin into gloss. Buff it right up.

Mmmm, a wine DeLuxe, that's hot. And I love a satin finish!

These have been out since before Christmas last year, along with the humbucker (Signature Player Plus) and P90 (Classic Player Plus) variants. I haven't spotted any NGD posts with any of these. Has anyone played one in person yet?

That’s sweet looking! I like the way the blue contrasts with the natural sides and back.

I’m a sucker for that look...the new Classic with P90s in blue too!

<<<<----- I owned a Deluxe in the 70's. Wish they'd put out another reissue of my old one.

What is "richlite" anyhow? Some kind of aggregate material compressed into a board or something?

It's paper and phenolic resin, pressed, cured, and cut to shape.

Richlite is also used to make countertops, so it is very tough. I had a Midtown Deluxe with it, and it felt and looked just like ebony.

Believe me, I've tried and touched couple of these in a store; finish it's so thin that I wouldn't even try to buff it. You can expose the bare wood with a fingernail.

^ Its a material already well known in the industry......Martin uses it, and Hagstrom uses a slightly cheaper version of the same thing.
The only complaints you ever hear is from people who haven't had it - some pointless traditionalist rubbish usually.
