Is this a solid top or veneer?

Hey guys, looking at a (what I believe to be) LPS-59R made in the Fujigen factory 1995.

Normally we associate these guitars with veneer tops with sometimes impressive flame maple figures, but this one has only a relatively modest flame to it. Hard to tell from the photos here, but I find myself wondering: maybe this is a solid top and not a veneer?

    What do you guys think?

would need bigger/better pics to tell for sure, but at first glance i would say veneer.
first check is if the line on the top and in the cavity align exactly or not.

Anyone know if I can expect the red to fade significantly? Nice guitar, but so red! I kinda assume, given the rest of the wear on the guitar, that most of the fading that its going to go through as already happened.

I have an ObG too. Even when it's not a 59R, the red is the same as yours. And mine has 30 years!!

I know the guitar, I had the same reluctance to bid because of the redness.
They are excellent guitars, as you know, and the PAFs sound very sweet.

P.S. My ObG custom looked more reddish in the pics on YJ than in reality.

59R is veneer. We'll need a good closeup under the hood to confirm.

My understanding is that an LPS-57C (57 reissue, plain-top) would be solid while the LPS-59R (59 reissue, flametop) would be veneer, right?

So between two burst ObG's, on a 57C and on a 59R, which is actually the nicer axe? Assume, for these purposes, that you don't have any particular preference for one type of maple woodgrain over another type of maple woodgrain. What else would be different between the two guitars? Assume also that both are Fujigen.

Also, I know very very well that quality variation from one specimen to another is likely to be larger than the variation between the two models. But that's a moot point when ordering from overseas.

Same guitar but the 59's had a veneer. No difference in tone or feel. Both really nice guitars. I really liked both of mine but gave them up for the thicker neck Bacchus Classic, which is by no means a lesser guitar and they come cheaper than the ObG reissues.

Hrm, if I'm reading the translation right this guitar (Fujigen LPS-59R in HD finish? LD finish?) seems to be claiming a solid flame top, but it probably isn't, right?

P.S. Why do Fujigen reissues have such terrible fretboard inlay work? =P
