This has gone up and down a few times, but I have a chance at a dream vintage purchase and I definitely don't need two strats. I don't mean to throw up unnecessary superlatives, but I tracked this down after trying several. It is indeed one of the best playing Strats I've laid my hands on, and in my opinion, the best looking. Here are the details: The Antigua finish on this example is incredible, with some light wear and checking. Has a set of Lollar Dirty Blackface pickups in it which are miles beyond what Fender was putting into these guitars in the late 70's. This, unlike many 70's strats, is a KILLER, lightweight example (7.5 pounds) with a nice medium neck. It has recently been refretted with 6105 frets and had a nitro refinish on the fretboard (a must when refretting 70's Fenders due to chipping that usually occurs from the thick poly on the neck). It was re-radiused to 9.5" when refretted, so it plays as well as any modern build. It's a hardtail, and is all stock minus the pickups. It comes with the OHSC which is in good condition, as well as the original bridge cover. This is the best strat I've ever played or owned (Out of several Fender, Nash, MJT, etc.). Hard tail strats are one of the best kept secrets in the guitar world. Its like having a Tele in the bridge but a strat in all other positions. Much more resonant than tremolo strat... I will include a set of period correct black pickup covers if you want to make it look stock! Price: $1950.00 PP and Shipped. I bought this for $2,150 and spent around $600.00 in pickups and refretting. My loss is your gain.
