Sounds pretty badass. Makes me miss my Small Box, that thing was wicked.

At $3,500 I would need to refinance the house just to afford it. I am sure it is a killer amp but it will never be in my stable.

They're aimed at a particular demographic, not really so much the average Joe, as are all Friedman amps.....kind of similar to Historic Reissues vs a Traditional or Classic Les Paul.

That being said, some think they're worth their price tag, some don't. I bought my Friedman JJ-100 used for $2325. Not bad considering they're $3700 new. It's a fantastic amp, great cleans, HBE channel does the classic rock thing great and the JBE channel does modern very well.

I bought a Splawn Quick Rod and Ceriatone Chupacabra last month, and find myself preferring them to the Friedman, only because the Friedman is more compressed and lacks a bit of low end depth that I tend to like. When I go to buy a house within the next 2 years, the Friedman will be one of the items that goes to fund a downpayment.

ANYWAYS, the BE-50 does look like a killer amp with a lot of nice features and options, and could really be a super versatile option for the gigging musicians with the bank account to fund it.

Chalk me up to one of those. I have had my Friedman BE-50 for a few years now. Dave was kind enough to build me a BE-100 in a 50W version with a master volume for the lead boost channel. Worth EVERY PENNY! His amps kick ass!

Was hoping this would be closer to the price of a small box.

This is pretty similar to the Wildwood Edition Small Box that came out a couple years ago, with the third OD channel. That amp kicked absurd amounts of ass and was "only" $3,000 new, with a few selling on the used market for $2,500. That would be the route I'd look to go before I plunked down the extra grand for one of these.

I really want one of these, but like many here, I can't justify the "new" price. I'll have to do what I usually do and wait a few years for the used ones to come down in price. Even at $2500, this would be a big commitment for me. Still, it has ALL the bells and whistles I'd want.

On the other hand, maybe the price of used BE-100's will go down a bit when these come out? ;) One can dream.

I bought my BE 100 used for $2,500 and it included a road case.

bumping this discussion back up, did anyone actually pull the trigger on the BE-50 at sweetwater? I'm thinking that the master volume is SO good on the BE-100 that's it worth just getting a used one of those! I could care less about the other features... thoughts?

Jon, Have you have the opportunity to play the new BE-50 Deluxe? If so how does it compare to your Custom Built BE50? I've always liked the tones you pull from your BE-50.

    Thanks!

Thank you! I have not checked the new ones out yet but I bet they are very similar. I've owned A TON of amps, and that one kills them all. The vintage Marshall's can't be cranked enough in 99% of the venues I play. This one sounds great at a reasonable volume. You still have to kick it up a hair to get the sweet spot, but I can be in the music room with the ladies home and not have them yelling at me to turn it down.
