Hi, everyone! I took my epi les paul on an airplane and when it came off it had a crack in the neck... :(

I took it with me in th cabin as well, and there wasnt any turbulence and the pilot didnt do any stunts or anything like that. it was even in an skb case! :(

but yeah anyways, donno how the crack got there but its there and was hoping to polish it out cuz the guitar does sound ok.

any ideas on how to fix this up? attached are some pics.

any help is appreciated (just please dont tell me to throw the guitar away :D)

first of all loosen the strings.I supose it's the joint of the neck and the peghead, because the shape is kind of semi-circle.I would tighten the strings far from the normal to open a gab(carefull not to crack it),put Titebond and press it.Clear the area from glue.
As far as the finish concerns, some expects will help you.You must first find ou what kind of finish it is.Probably Nitro.....I suppose you should sand the area with 2000 paper and then put a little finish with a gun and polish it.But i am not expert in that...

Looks like it is the scarf joint.
Do these Epi's have a warranty?

I'd think warranty as well. Hopefully you bought it from an authorized dealer and filled out the card.

    Theodor- Poly finish.

I'd take it to someone to have it repaired if if isn't getting fixed under warranty. I'd also loosen the strings to 1/2 tension or less.
