    Hi everyone,

I'm new to MLP - so hello!

Having dreamed of owning one since the age of 13 (I'm now 28...), I recently bought my first Gibson Les Paul here in London. It's a 2017 Classic Gold Top with some (mainly superficial, overpriced and unashamedly vanity driven) mods...

Having played around with various combinations of knobs, pickup covers, plastics etc - I'm now really happy with what is for me a beautiful Goldtop. I call it my 'Fifty17 Goldtop' - historic 50s styling on a modern LP Classic.

The mods won't be to everyone's taste I'm sure - but I love it and she plays beautifully. I'd love to hear your thoughts either way.

Here is a list of the modified/added parts:

    Gibson Parts
Gibson Historic Truss Rod Cover - PRTR-120
Gibson Historic Toggle Switch Washer - PRWA-059
Gibson Historic Toggle Switch Cap - PRTK-059
Gibson Historic Pickup Rings - PRPR-035
Gibson Pure Neck Pickup Cover (nickel) - PRPC-030
Gibson Pure Top Hat Knobs (gold) - PRHK-020
Gibson Historic Knob Pointers (nickel) - PRKP-059
Gibson Historic Output Jack Plate - PRJP-059

    Non-Gibson Parts
    Grover Vintage 135N Tuners
    Schaller Strap Locks (Nickel)

My favorite model is a classic and favorite finish is a goldtop...

And your choice to leave one zebra bare is very cool...

The 57 zebra looks so effing cool in a Goldie...especially with the nickel neck...such a great look

You certainly hit a perfect homerun with ur first...
    Everything is perfect

    Also, welcome to the cult...

Fantastic first post!! ...and welcome aboard.

I love gold tops and yours is a beauty. You did a great job!

I modded my R6 Goldtop as well, can you guess what it's modded after?

It's very comfortable... I tried a bunch of LPs from both the 2016 and 2017 range - and this one instantly felt great. I know people have often said necks on older Classics are too skinny - this one is just right for me though.
