Without any expectation I went to the local music store and navigated straight to the Gibson Custom corner.

I’ve never before played a True Historic...now I did...and what can I say?!?! It was an amazing experience!!! Played a 58 TH and a 59 Figured Top. The guitars where incredible to be honest. They breathed every note and the feel was like playing a very old well played and broken in instrument. Having had a great 2011 R7, I must admit both guitars were a totally different league, if not the best guitars I’ve ever played!

I’ve captured me playing both guitars on video, feel free to check it out and leave a feedback. I now know what I was always missing :))

That '58 would be my choice. Did you purchase one of them?

Thank you for the demos. I guess you were very excited when playing them; it sounded and looked that (good) way

Does the 58 has a lighter colored fretboard?

The bridge pickup on that 58 sounds nice and honky! Love it.

Indeed, the CBs are a totally different animal than the BBs you had in your '11 R7.

    Truth.

It takes a while to get the word out on new guitars. I feel when Gibson gets a good new series to market they expect instant success. When will they learn it doesn't work that way.

    Nice clips OP! :applause:

Yeah, the 58 was not of this earth but it costs another 2k on top...

I reserved the 59, the 58 is out of my budget range. Will check some other 59s though, there’s a shop here that is said to have some nicer tops in stock.

Thanks! Actually, it’s not allowed to take videos in that store, so I was even more thrilled...but you are right, I was emotional ;-)

The 58 has a light fretboard. Usually, I tend to like darker ones, but this one proofed to me that brighter fretboards sound great, too.

True! But isn’t that neck pickup geogeus sounding, too?

Those CBs blow the BBs out of the water, easily! They even sound better and more articulate than most boutiqe HBs I’ve played!

I can't argue with that, it did sound great. That guitar is a keeper.

Just a thought... not my money!
    :D
If the '58 is a "Life guitar"...
    finance the extra 2k.
You won't find another one like it.

    At least make an offer.

I wondered the same thing. If it is "the one" an extra two grand won't matter over the course of the remainder of the OP's lifetime.

Haven’t thought about that alternative, but yeah this might be something to consider.
