Is there any chance that we can just let me tell my tale without getting locked? Two ladies knocked on my door. I opened the door and I knew they were Missionaries. I'm not going to "Name that Tune". I happen to have family, dating back to the 1800's, that have that faith. These ladies were in their early '20's. I could have shined them on. That's not me. I gave them a mini-history lesson based on my family history. They were entranced. My mission was to get them to look up the history. They will. :thumb:

I just noticed, if you change "T" to "Z", you get "Fezz".

I do. It's one thing to be approached by Missionaries when I don't know anything about their faith. It would have been easy for me to slam the door. I didn't. I didn't challenge their faith. I just had a bit of family history to share. They loved it. They will look up the history. It will reinforce their faith.

    Simple.

If you keep it about the visit, and not about the subject matter of which they were speaking, there will not be a problem.

But, given the nature of the "usual suspects" around here, I'd bet some coin that it will soon deteriorate, no matter that we lay it out easy enough for a five year-old to understand. Sometimes it's like trying to get 13 year-old girls to pipe down at a slumber party. Aint-gonna-happen.

I am sure you made their day because I would imagine that most doors go unanswered or they are not so well received.

I had a carpet salesman come to my door when I was hammered. I got rid of him by asking my wife if we had room for him in the freezer.

They got a dose from an outsider with a bit of personal history. They were aghast and agog. Once they realized that I was not a threat, they paid attention. That was worth it.

I sort of enjoy visitors at my door, they're all selling something...and being. a salesman, I know how hard it is to walk up to strangers and try and sell them something. You have to have a good "elevator pitch", something that peaks their interest enough to get them to talk to you. It ain't easy.

I listen to the visitor's pitch and critique them in my mind, then tell them I'm not interested...good luck and good day.

I don't even answer the door. If they stay too long I have a security camera with 2-way audio and say "you can leave now, not interested, not answering the door". Funny watchin them see where the audio is coming from and don't think I can hear them

I enclosed the entrance to my house in a sort of sally port. Unless one wishes to somehow defeat either the lock, the ironwork, or the concrete block of the enclosure, there is no walking up to my front door and knocking.

Basically my attitude is this: people I know who wish to stop by, or who are already in the driveway, have my phone number. If somebody has a service appointment at my residence, it's already on the schedule and I'll actually be waiting for them to show up. But people who simply feel the need to knock on my door-- for whatever?

Try one of my neighbors. I don't even answer the door bell for those I do not know, unless maybe for the cops or a firefighter.

Yeah, but Fett is about 40 plus rambling thoughts short when posting threads.
