I had a chance to play through a buddy's 60watt 1x12 supersonic today... I thought it was badass... almost like 3 amps in one.

Anyone else messed around with one of these?

neat concept, hard to get that gain channel dialed into anything halfway nice. The gains a little harsh, but eventually you can get somethin kinda decent

I played one at GC for about 30 minutes. It is a good attempt by Fender to produce a good, crunchy amp sound. Not bad at all.:thumb:

I don't like the gain on the supersonic, the amp is a little on the harsh side.

Looks like the current equivalent of my Pro Tube Reverb, sans the 1/4 power switch.

The "secret" with the gain channel is to drop the gain, boost the volume, and really work your guitar controls (some secret, huh?). At 60w, that may be a problematic approach for home use.

High gain channel doesn't sound very good, and each channel requires so many changes to the tone stack that you can't go back and forth without making big adjustments.

I love mine - not a typical Fender by any means, and there is a lot of experimentation needed to learn how to dial it in. Settings that sound great on Single Coils don't work well with HBs. The Fender point of sale display card is a good reference point to start from in finding amp settings you like.

The speaker sounds much better after a good amount of break in time.

Yeah, I was actually down to that amp and the Mesa LSS. I went with the Mesa but that is a really good sounding amp. A little like the Pro Reverb a friend of mine plays, another great sounding Fender that can get dirty.

the SuperSonic's not too bad--you just gotta tweak it for the right sound, especially with those dual-cascading gain controls, which can get kinda grungy if maxed-out, LOL!

I heard a dude playing one of those some years ago at a gig. "Hot Buttered Elvis", I do believe was the band. Anyway - sounded kick-ass to me at the time. Never played one, though.

I fell in love with the one I played at GC while my buddy was messing around with the clerks... I wanted it even though I had just bought my Vox!
