Favorite Blues Lick tabs in the Key of A

    So within the description of the Guitar Lessons category, it summerizes it to be a place to share your favorite licks. I thought I'd start one since my search comes up with mostly youtube links. I'm fairly new with coming up with licks as my lick vocabulary is somewhat small, so I'm wondering if you all can share your favorite licks within your arsenal. My favorite key to play in is A so I figured I'd stick with that. Anyways, here's one of my favorite licks to play and vary up. I'm sure ya'll have heard this as well.

    In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. A Dorian with some Am Pentatonic flair (IIRC) at it's best! Tons of great licks in that song. Lots to be learned from studying that song.

    Besides some regular licks that you can apply to most keys on the neck. I dig this fingerpicking Lightnin Hopkins lick in A.

    The bassnotes have a shuffle feel, duh dum duh dum
    You can try the treble lick first without the bass. Have to fit the bassnotes at the appropriate times don't know how to explain that. Can't really fit the notes in the tab at the right times in this format.
    the hammer on pull ofs are a trademark blues thing that you've heard thousand times before. lightnin JLH hendrix, they all used that sort of thrills.
    For the last bit use the long a chord. The notes you don't pick still ring out that way, sounds better, fuller. Hit with the thumb a bit of the rest of the chord.

    I guess the key of A isn't very popular lol. Should have used E man. This thread would've skyrocketed. :D

    I hope people know that they can pretty much put down any lick in this thread. As you all my know, it's pretty easy to just change the key of the lick accordingly. I wish I COULD change the title of the thread. DAMN!:slap:

    A and E are the most popular because they lend themselves to open strings. If you had a template, it would be easier for everyone.

    I think that you've just insulted nearly everyone. We all know the scales. By template I meant something that had the tab lines already and we just ad the fret notes.

    Some usage of the "B. B. King Box" scale. :cool:
    It is a very close mixture of minor and major notes in the scale that form some very tasteful licks if used just right. :thumb:

    These can easily be transposed from A to E and back.

    I have nothing to share, learning the scale in A and E and fudging some licks right now but still a total sponge. Great idea for a thread though.
