Not sure if its already posted but Eddie Van Halen says that he messed up and things didn't go as planned during Eruption. He only had one shot at it! Years later of course, his mistake became (in my opinion) some of the finest guitar playing of all time!!!:dude:

Clapton flubs part of the solo in the Unplugged version of Layla. If you watch the video, he misses it in the middle of the second phrase, grins, and kinda shakes his head, then keeps playing.

The amazing part is that if you just listen to it, you can't really tell.

so many have written about the sound of a telephone ringing in the background of recordings

well, above is yours truly about 3:00 am laying down a solo in a control room (gee, i just noticed
i'm standing in front of a two inch r2r tape machine – shows you how long ago this was)

and what do we spy to our right, a telephone...

apparently there was a piano around when Sting was doing the vocals, and he accidentally sat on it

It's just weird that it's so out of tune. You'd think in a studio these things would be 440 and you work tape speed around that, no?

In Van Halens version of Pretty Woman, the inadvertantly left out the final verse of the song, by the time they released, they alreast had a good take and didnt want to redo it

Just read this entire thread to see if anyone already posted the first blooper that came to my mind. Nope. Score!

At 0:07 on Dave Halen's song So This Is Love? from Fair Warning the entire bottom drops out of the mix. I always have to turn the volume up in order to enjoy the rest of the song. I remember reading somewhere that it makes EVH batsh!t crazy every time he hears it.

Nope accidental, read an interview with Kramer and he says he actually reduced that a lot from what it was, don't remember details. Simply couldnt scrub it after they'd finished or some such. So it's a beautiful accident.

Listen to the bass. It's like someone reached over and turned the volume down in the middle of the riff. It gets all shhhh...quiet.
