I've been a long time fan boy if Faber's hardware, and used all their locking stuff on all my own LP's and builds. But for some reason on this latest one I decided to try a Kluson no-wire ABR-1, thinking they'd have to be damn close. I was majorly let down . . . Guitar was bright, sustain killed me, and there was SO much rattling.

So I ordered a Faber Locking ABR-1, and put it on today. HOLY CRAP. Instantly the guitar was fuller, definitely a hair more sustain, and no more rattle. Solid as a rock. That was a HUGE waste of time . . .

Anyone else had better luck with their Kluson?

I tried a Gotoh bridge. It was a sloppy fit. I installed Faber bushings, studs, locking bridge and tone lock aluminum tailpiece. Now i only use Faber on all my electrics. When I installed the Faber hardware, the guitar sounded like I had just removed a blanket from the guitar.

I have done direct comparisons of the Faber non-locking to the stock Gibson Historic ABR and the difference was plainly audible. The Historic bridge made the guitar sound choked, like it was being played through an AM radio. The Faber had a much smoother response with more lows, smoother mids and extended highs.

In my opinion, Faber makes the best hardware.

That is pretty much how I would sum it up as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Now I'm really interested in this for my R8.

    Did you buy this one?:

Careful, once you go Faber, there is no turning back. You will be putting them on all your tune-o-matic bridge equipped guitars. I know that I did.

I've always used Faber conversion bushings for Nashville guitars....sounds like I need to try their ABR as well.

I was going to post that sale info but wasn't sure if it was against the rules. Glad to see someone got it out there for the masses.

 Man, that's rough. Hang in there, take it easy and enjoy the pampering. Just make sure you're around for the sale next year.
    Curious, where are you located?

Glad your back on your horse David!

I just installed faber hardware on 3 guitars yesterday. Great stuff!

Has anyone compared the faber stuff to tonepros?
