Thats amazing!! Awesome job The Truth, did you have to cut the end of the FB to fit the binding in between the neck and the neck PUP ring??
thank you, i'm glad you like it
yes i had to cut a little, maybe 1,5 mm to fit binding
Man, your paint work is really nice. The LP from post #63 is truly awesome
I know this thread is kind of old, but I gotta say, that Les Paul is absolutely awesome
I still can't believe your work even looking back on this months later...
Question, how did you get the horn of the strat so perfect? When I tried refinish my strat style guitar I messed up the horn so theres a bit of a chunk ripped out of the corner.
Thank you very much guys, i'm so glad after a year or two this thread is still interesting to someone
Refugee, i'm not sure i can remember how i striped this one, but i always use heating gun and scraper, polyurethane and poliester is a joy to remove this way, be sure you don't heat body from too close distance and move fast with heater. Otherwise you will must make solid color refinish
I work slow and not more than 30 min in one piece
i did a lot of this refinishes in last 3 or 4 years, sometimes i had more than 5 at time, so i stopped doing this cause i saw this is never ending story
from what i have on computer this are pics of some of my work from last year, last orders i took
this one was black
and after refinish (nitro, of course)
hope you like this one too
this is not makeover, but it is also my work so maybe i should put it in this thread also, blackguard replika for MLP member River

Where in Croatia? My family is Croatian so we go back every summer, my mom's from Varazdin and dad's from Krk, so we spend a few weeks in Varazdin and then a week or two in Malinska.
Croatia is full of great luthiers but many people just don't know. Last time we visited, we met a man who was making beautiful violins, basses, tamburitzas and guitars from the local maple (which in case anyone doesnt know, is some of the best in the world. It's said that the old Stradivarius violins were made from hard Croatian maple which is one of its secrets)
Yes, i live in Koprivnica, that is 50 kilometers from Varadin, and i go to Varadin every month at least once
i think i know with who you were talking about violins, there is one great man, but he is almost 90 years old now, and his student is my great luthier friend who pull me into the world of amazing luthier stuff i don't think there is many luthiers here, cause this job is nothing that i would recommend to anyone here, even with better payed job is difficult to live, but there are people who make some nice instruments and try to survive
our maple is amazing, lots of people all over the world use it for classical instruments, but there is also Bosnian maple that is even more popular and more hard to find and price is of course following this details
thank you for watching my thread
That Mahogany top LP looks amazing!!!!
ahh, alright, we've been to koprivnica a few times before and it's really nice there as well! Yeah, this man was very old but he just did amazing work, i really want to have him make me a guitar one day (hopefully soon) but I'll visit him again this summer when we go back. We stay in Varazdin the longest because my mom's entire family is still there so i have time to look around and find the guitar shops and stuff
That's some beautiful work. Good lord.
River's tele is gorgeous as is all your work, bravo
I wanna ask You some questions
1. I know that You used nitrocellulose laquier but - how many layers of laquier You painted?
2. After painting the "colour" laquer (pearl white?) You paint transparent layer? If yes - that was nitrocellulose? If not - can i paint nitrocellulose transparent laquer on the top of colour laquer? I want to make watermarks on the colour laquer and paint transparent on it.
Sorry for my english,
huh, i don't know i spray until it is done
5 layers then sanding, if it is good, again 5, than sanding, until it is done, aproximately i spray 3 times of sanding sealer, then color and than 5 coats of lacquer
yes of course, you have to spray lacquer to protect to color.
i spray all on nitro base, mix the colors in nitro lacwuer too
