OK i thought i was done with my gear gas
but i tried one of these beautiful (and they are)
strats at the music store, it has the sound quality
and look of 50's strat, sustains like crazy,
a very basic strat, with great wood, great parts
that keep it pretty authentic to the old strats.
A little pricey but for the quality its worth it
There are alot of Youtube videos of people with these and
you can tell right away they sound better than the usual strat

so I'm gassing for a sunburst, if i do allot of
pushing here and pulling there i might be able
to pull it off in Oct (be a great 55th birthday present)

Yep, they are really nice... Custom Shop quality for a lot less than a full blown CS. Love the neck on those.

EJ's the man. I met him at LaGuardia by chance and we geeked out about how much we love our Fender double gig bags. His sig's pretty nice, too :)

EDIT: BTW, his sig is one of the few models Fender produces with a nitro finish. The Highway One's and I believe the Billy Corgan Strat also use nitro, among a couple others.

    It's my #1 Strat.

The build quality is on par with the CS.

I have the CS Clapton model and I prefer the EJ.

The nitro is great, if you think the neck is sticky it will fade in about 2 weeks if you play it.

I'm never selling mine, and it's a great price for what you get.

The EJ Strat is arguably the BEST Strat out of the box.

    No mods needed.

    +1

The one person I've really heard who can do his type of licks is Joe Bonamassa (he combines them with his blues-rock licks and it is bad ass :dude:)

If you are willing to by used and not in mint condition a guitar store near me has one used for $1195

Ithaca Guitar Works- Ithaca's Premier New & Used Guitar Shop. Onsite Luthiers & So Much More.

    Excellent choice!

The man demands real, consistent tone, that's for sure. He even makes sure to use the same brand & model 9v battery for his active pickups because he believes he can hear a tonal difference!

yea have you seen his Youtube video for his guitar,
he is very picky about wood, necks, finish, pickups and
not having a back cover, (thinks it changes the sound)
maybe hes right! you can here a difference in that
guitar from other guitars. To me it sounds like a real Vintage Strat
If the word gets around too much Fender is going
to raise the price, they already did by $200 since
    christmas.

Damn, I didn't know about the price increase. And, yea, he's the most picky player I've ever met in terms of his gear, setup, settings, etc. He's really nice and modest, though. His signature model is really a tribute to him and Fender executed it the right way :thumb: I believe he's pretty pleased with it, which is more than can be said for some other people (like Andy Timmons...but I won't name others that are less obvious).

Coldsteal, excellent choice bro!!! I played one of these in a transparent blonde color, and it is THAT good!!! It was in an absolute different league from the other strats that I saw there. The only CS Fender Strat that I've ever messed with is the $2100 Custom Classic Strat, and I severely preferred the EJ over it, and price was not even close to a factor. I loved the neck, the fretboard, the woods used, the nice light weight, the tint of the neck, the finish, the SOUND!!! Oh yeah!!! This Strat pretty much ruined everything in Stratland for me. Its either the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Strat @ $299, or the EJ at its current price. Anything in between doesn't impress me that much. Hope it works out for you bro. Its one of the best guitars out there PERIOD!!
