Here's some pic's of EJ's 2001 settings for all you Eric Tone Hounds.... Enjoy! :thumb:

    50 watt Marshall settings.

    [IMG] [IMG]

Pre amp and Power amp covers missing... :hmm: extra tone maybe?

Black mark for Fuzz setting, just backed off from full. + Eric's rubber band tone enhancer.

The drive knob dosent usually go past 4, set at about 3 that night
    [IMG]

    Memory Man set to vibrato.

Echoplex set at around 26 (or 415-420 ms) about 4 or 5 repeats
    [IMG]

Close shot of how he strings up, he dosent put the string in the post, and he goes "under over" as well, B all the way down because he doesn't put the string under the tree,

The E saddle has been changed for a brass one, the B pole pieces have been altered by him as well, they have been pushed down.

Those pics kinda dismiss the idea that a guitar player needs high-priced, high-fallutin' power suppies & pedalboards...

...courtesy of a $4 power strip from WalMart, and a $10 plank of plywood for the pedalboard... :laugh2: :naughty:

On the Alien Love Child tour, I had the bonus opportunity to help do the load-in for Eric and his opening act, the Derek Trucks Band. I got first-hand views of the same pics listed above, and that was the best I've ever heard Eric play, because most of it seemed/was improvised and off-the-cuff. To me, IMHO, alot of what Eric does, although very impressive, is overly rehearsed & precise. I really enjoyed the DTB, because they were going for it every song, and you could tell it was improvised and musicians listening to each other to move the song/jam forward...

Anyway, I sat at the monitor board with Eric's tech during Eric's set, and got a better-than-close-up view of what goes on. The night I saw him, he used an old SG and a 335, and a Strat for one song that required a vibrato bar. He did "Cliffs of Dover" on the 335. Eric's tech monitored Eric with a RI '59 Bassman sitting off-stage so he could pay attention to Eric's tone throughout the nite. Having that Bassman pointed right at me was worth a few years of guitar lessons...

I heard that he's replaced the Tube Driver with a Tonebone Classic pedal...haven't seen recent shots of his board to know or not.

The Tube Driver is a rockin' pedal; interesting how he uses his to shape his tone...zero treble and bass. :D

Great comment Billy--that was an incredible opportunity most of us will never get. :D

OK this his is setup for the Aug. 22, 2009 charity show at the One World Theatre in Austin. NO MARSHALL . I think he uses this set up for smaller gigs.

The Zendrive 2 probly goes into the silverface twin to compensate for the Marshall's, the Xotic AC is now been used insted of the B.K Butler Tube driver and the Fuzz Face has been replaced

As a word of warning to anyone who feels the urge to tap down their Strat polepieces - DON'T! It's an excellent way of breaking the coil windings. Don't ask me how I know this. EJ musta got lucky.
