Life, again a beautiful new ax for you. Interesting, the TRC tickles the bottom of the diamond inlay, doesn't it.

Sweet! Mine's got rosewood.. and poly but still plays beautifully. Love the frets and action on this thing...

Thanks buddy. Yeah, unlike the Gibbs.. they actually do touch. Compared mine with Eddie's and the position looks similar.

    Gibson Headstock for reference..

That would require taking out the Epiphone inlay Filling the wood and re-routing the new Gibson logo for the inlay. I wouldn't see a point to doing that though. I mean if you want a Gibson, get a Gibson.

There are more than a few "Gibsons" out there that started life as an MIJ Epi or Orville guitar. Again why go through all the expense to do that?

My Orville has the vintage sized headstock, nitro finish and is "correct" vintage specs, so I have no desire to make it a fake Gibson, it was authorized to be made so I just play it and not worry about what name is on the headstock.

Getting the inlay done right is one problem, but the biggest is FINDING an MIJ Epiphone.

I LIVE in Japan and Im here to tell you that they are NOT easy to come by. Basically youre getting a Gibson quality Les Paul with the Epiphone name for about $500. When they DO become available on the Japanese market, theyre usually gone in minutes. A couple of days tops if they dont figure out how to get the word out. Thats NOT including the international websites many stores have up. Problem there is that Japanese LP fans are trolling those sites just as hard as we are. Only all they have to do is take a 15 minute train ride to go check it out (again, if a friend of a clerk hasnt already scooped it up)

I did manage to get one (although not the Gold Top Id been GASsing for... itll do) and I paid an embarrassingly low price for it. BUT I stop by that shop every day on my way home from work. Id probably been there 50-60 times before this popped up.

Oh my, that's one fantastic looking Epi, more beautiful than MANY Gibsons I've seen. One question: Is the hardware nickel plated, or is it chrome? Sure wish that one was mine. :)
