I am really looking into a semi-hollow body guitar.Where does the Epiphone lucille stands on, quality wise, compare to a Gretsch 5122DC.

IMO, my B.B.King signed Lucille, is the best sounding and best looking semi-hollow body guitar.

I was asking about the epiphone version not the 3200$ one.

I have one and its pretty nice. Don't know about the gretsch, never played one. The only thing I don't like about my lucille are the pots. They are like on/ off switches, but mine is an older Korean one with mini pots. I think the newer ones have fullsize pots

    here is my review

Great review Yogi!!! I really like the 335 type guitars. Its to bad they dont make the Lucille in Left handed or Id be all over it. Again nice job on the review.

I bought my 1996 Gibson Lucille on eBay for only $1751.

Not that I would ever consider selling it, I wonder what it is worth now with B. B. King's signature on it.

remember the 5122 is fully hollow AND a total piece of garbage tonewise & construction wise.
I'd take an epiphone dot 335 over it anyday.
My samick is light years above the gretsch even.

I am considering modifying my Epiphone Lucille ( I bought a factory 2nd fully intending to mod it to my liking). I plan to add a Filtertron style TVJones Powertron Plus as a middle pick up on it's own circuit. 1vol,1tone 3way switch each circuit-the Lucille 2 humbuckers (Pearly Gates bridge, Duncan APN1 neck) on the one circuit, and other circuit controls the single Filtertron. I plan to upgrade and rewire the harnesses using CTS/Switchcraft/pushback wire etc. and retain the varitone switch (plan to upgrade the wiring there too) and keep stereo wiring in the humbucker circuit. The Filtertron circuit will have an additional 3 way switch added to control the pickup in humbucker/split coil/.33mf cap modes as in the single pickup Model 10 wiring diagram on TVJones' site.

    Question:

Can I wire the Filtertron circuit to the Lucille mono output jack direct, (no off/on switch-pickup comes on when I turn up it's volume control) w/o much problem of the 2 circuits interacting on one another? I want to be able to get the middle and neck pickup tones together and also have all 3 pickups on at one time into 1 amp. I'll use this guitar in stereo for home recording thru a tube preamp and this is mainly what it will be used for. I have modded several guitars successfully in my past, but it has been a while.....dusting off the cob webs here.

Thanks ahead for any tech advise here.
    Reno
