Wow great specs. Will have to pick one of these up.
So whats that $550 to 599 USD? I think thats decent for that. 1k would be insane. Gibson Thunderhorses were $1400ish new and the epis were about $599 or so.
I figured £500 - £600, for that price it should really include a case, especially as it's not a standard shape - The Jeff Waters' V has a gig bag, and that's £379.
I actually prefer the black on black prototype.
I've got the Troy Sanders Squier Bass in Silverburst which will look great next to this.
guess I'll have to start a Mastodon tribute band haha
Better have some killer f*ckin' chops.
Based on the £599 at Andertons, $842 USD.
And thats exactly why I WONT be starting a tribute band. Some of their stuff is waaaaaay to complex for my feeble little brain.
Who will pay 800 Euros for a poor Epiphone ?
I' m very surprised .
Yup. Geez, if I count all the influences I pick up on, I hear everything from early Yes (minus the heavy keys) and Genesis to Southern Rock to Thrash, to Blues. It's all there and they have an incredible ability to shift time sigs at the drop of a downbeat.
country/banjo influence too. ...there's even some Dick Dale/Ventures type surf riffs here and there.
They're a beast of a band. And Crack the Sky is (imo) an...incredible 'once every 20 years' kind of album. I put it up there with LZ IV, Dark Side of the Moon, Master of Puppets,..it's one of those kinds of albums. Just...revolutionary in a way.
It took me almost a year of listening to it just to firmly grasp and understand what I was hearing. It's amazing.
I like some of their other stuff,.but that one album is pure genius and musicianship.
I'll second what Mal said. It's a phenomenal album. Oblivion hooked me, but The Czar is a true masterpiece. It's the kind of song that, when its over, you feel like you've gone on an aural journey. I'll let the song speak for itself...
I really like Divinations.
it starts with a banjo, goes into a heavy country scale thing over chunky chords, the verse is really heavy, the chorus is a cool weird Thin Lizzy style harmony guitar riff...and it all works,..it goes together and makes sense. The time changes, feel changes, the weird drop into the bridge (which is weird and out of nowhere,..when suddenly? Surf Guitar Riff! Guitar Solo!)
WTF? I'm getting my ass kicked. This is great!
I have a "friend" that tripped on a lot of mushrooms while watching the movie that goes along with the album. The solo during Divinations, Czar, and all of the Last Baron is insanely good.
Easily my favorite album of all time.
$799 at AMS, if interested. I ordered one.
yep. £599 on Andertons
Well, are you going for it?
this damn forum is why i never have any money haha
I'm unfortunately going to have to wait until the end of may
but it will be mine...oh yes, it will be mine
In part influenced by Malikon's posting of Anderton's Sound Like Mastodon video I decided to trade for an Explorer - now I feel like I need an silverburst V!
I notice that these are already no longer available on zZounds....
I wish they came in other colors
