EPI LP Special II now with Okoume wood?

    Silently the specification of the standard Special II changed from Mahagony to Okoume for both body and neck. The LP100 got also Okoume neck. What should that mean? Anyone have experience with that wood?

    I guess they save some pennies on every guitar

    Haha, yes, that is clear ;) Sorry, I didnĀ“t express it correctly - what should that mean in terms of sound and durability.

    Oh no! I'm so glad I took the mahagony model in 2015... now I still can participate "mr. Wet tshirt" contest, wearing my Special II guitar ;)

    The wikipedia page says that Okoume shares the acoustic properties of maple. How are Epiphone still allowed to call it the Slash AFD starter pack when you can't even get the slashtone from it anymore?
