When were 3 piece necks introduced on Juniors and Specials? Would a 3-piece neck have appeared on a supposed 67 Junior with an 887XXX serial number?

100000% 1969. Same as Walnut Brown as a color..no ifs, ands, or buts..

Not surprised it is being sold as a '67...

Thanks! So it can't even be a late '68? And how old was Gibson's pot stock when they were building these...did they use '67 pots building a '69 guitar? Seller said it has '67 pots but I have not verified. I care enough to ask the experts, but not enough to pull apart the guitar right now. It's nice and I got a more than fair price no matter what the year.

    How'd I know....
    SOOOOOOOO typical...

SOOO many 69, 70, and 71 SGs become '68's when they are up for sale...

Funny thing..68 isn't a holy grail SG..they are basically identical except for some minor body lines..

I'd lose my $hit at that seller personally..

What is it about '68's that make them so appealing to sellers?

MAYBE, besides outright ignorance, or deliberate deceit, because it was a lower production year, less available, thus somehow more valuable. The ratio of 68 to 69 SGs is 2 and half times more...1340 shipped in '68, with 3354 in '69..that's pretty substantial...ANY whiff of that, like a late 68 pot, and people are all over it, even if rock solid production traits say otherwise..and usually, these "experts" can not be convinced, and have even become downright belligerent..but the best thing about FACTS is that they are true whether you believe them or not.

But other than that, and some slight body line differences (another area where people try to make opinion fact..) ..NO difference from a '67-71...and '68 is no HOLY GRAIL SG...no more or less than a '69 or 70...they're ALL good.
