There are so many of these.

I have my eye on the Way Huge Overrated Overdrive pedal, the Simble, and a few others. What pedals are you guys enjoying that get you a nice saturated overtone sound?

I use a Zendrive clone that works beautifully.

I'd like to try a One Control "Golden Acorn Overdrive Special". A local dealer can get them but has not as yet.

I read somewhere that it works best plugged into a 100 Watt RMS (minimum) amp. That part isn't gonna happen for me.

There's a video out there of a guy playing a Dumble voiced pedal through a Mustang. I don't think the amp matters as much as you think....not for us bedroom wankers anyway.

same here __ but I'm still looking for the " factor " . the Acorn comes close

the only way that I can describe it , is a strange metaphor .
I used to drive a 1970 Plymouth Valiant __ and I decided to put a cherry bomb muffler on it . had a very distinct rumble to it . in comparison . . I hate the noise that some of the newly legal street bikes make . like an angry hive of bees

I want more of that rumble . and less bees . may not be in the pedal as much as the pickups ( the old Dearmond designed Dynasonics ) __ and even more so , in the amp

Be sure to also look at "The Dude" by J Rockett. Definitely a versatile contender.

I recall that the original Ethos pedal was billed as the best Dumble clone out there.

The Rockett Dude is a great little ODS voiced pedal - built well, small footprint on the board.

Rockett Dude all the way. I can easily pull out the lower gain smooth bluesy Robben Ford Talk To Your Daughter era tones, but I can crank that gain right up and get liquid lead tones ala a cranked Marshall or something. The tone controls on it allow it to be tuned to any guitar or amp.

Rockett is making some of the best dirtboxes out there and they have a dirtbox for every sound and I couldn't recommend them more. They have discontinued all of their big box pedals and are focused on these small tour series pedals because they realize board space is very important and the only big pedals they make now is the Tim Pierce OD (very good warm compressed OD). But the Tour series has every kind of tone imaginable and multiple takes on a Marshally gain pedal.

And...we have package difficulties. Box arrived safely, minus the Dude. Looks like he's abiding with someone else. American Musical says it'll prob be 7 to 10 days to hear back from Fedex.

First time that's happened. Hopefully it gets resolved quickly. So much for 2 day free shipping. :squint:

Finally received the Dude, but also got a huge discount from AMS on a Wampler Tumnus for the trouble, so there's that. Great company.

    That does not blow!
    And does "The Dude" abide?
Does it really pull the room together?

It's a great little pedal. One of the best I've tried. Apart from that Dunble sort of tone, it's just a great pedal all around as a clean boost and anything in between.

I decided to keep mine (and the Supro Drive) and just put them both back on my board. They are my two favourite drive pedals and I have been through A LOT - lol

have an opinion based on one pedal. I got the Simble and really like it. I have meant to buy a few others to check them out (Zen, Dude, DMBL, Euphoria, etc...) with the intent of keeping the one liked best, but have been so happy with the Simble I have never got around to the others. Really fits a great niche between my Lightspeed and my BB Preamp.
