I'd like to know the easiest way to post pictures on the forum without using a separate image hosting site. I sometimes use Photobucket but I hate it. Attaching images to posts is fine but I prefer to have the picture in the actual post. Suggestion for the non tech savvy?

You can create an album on MLP and upload images there. There's also the Gallery section. Have you tried either?

Alex, one still needs an off-site hosting facility, don't they?

If not, if one could upload images directly to an album here without having to use photobucket, imagur, etc that would be a big convenience.

    try this its easy...

attach the pic normally (i take mine from my computer, sometimes my camera,or phone) and then preview the post, click on your uploaded image at the bottom of the post and it should appear bigger, right click mouse to copy it, hit the back button, go to your post and right click mouse, highlight paste and it will be in your post

then hit the post button....it is really simple once you do it once or twice and easy as hell, you just download right from your own computer or where ever

someone here showed me that months ago....very easy and helpful

I upload all my guitar pics to albums right here on MLP. Very easy to use and very convenient for posting pics. Its even more fun when I post my MLP pics in FB groups or at TDPRI or LPF. :D

Just go to your "UserCP" control panel and select "Pictures & Albums".

now you can click on your own pic you posted, it opens it up bigger then right mouse click copy, then paste it into the body like this..

i just clicked your pic to blow it up, then right click copy, right click paste when i posted...

you can remove that link just by doing the above...try it a few times

but if i remember if you remove the smaller pic in the post, the larger one goes away....let me try that here to be sure

    hope this helps:thumb:

let me try to give better details....i know i suck at writing instructions

ok i uploaded a pic here by clicking "go advanced" then scroll down to "manage attachments" then click "browse"

find the pic you want on your computer files and click it, then click "upload"....you will see the name of the file

when it is done in orange/yellow highlighted, then just hit post and it will be the small pic that you see alot here at the bottom of your post

the next step puts it in the mail body of your post

so then before you hit post

click on your small pic, it should open to the larger size, then right click on it to copy it

next step is important to hit back button so you return you your main body of the post

now paste it into the main body and click save

maybe someone can put it in easier words to understand but keep playing with it, it works, sounds harder than what it is but once you do it two or three times, its a piece of cake

edit: i will try to remove the small pic to see if the larger one disappears from my post here

ok i went to edit, clicked manage attachments and hit remove the highlighted pic...it does remove the small pic but leaves the large one in the main body....so if you wanted to leave the small one for people using smart phones to view you can just dont do anything more

whew...its beer thirty hope this helps ....

    Your instructions are SPOT on!
I just don't seem to be able to Paste the pic back.

I get to the larger picture. I Ctrl-C or Right Click and Copy. I get the option to do this, it isn't grayed out.

I go back to this editor and Ctrl-V or Right Click Paste . . . but nothing.

    [here]

Must be some setting on my Win 7/Chrome setup. I'll keep playing

After attaching your photo and posting it, you have the little tumbnail photo in your post. Click on it, it opens a floating window showing a larger version of your photo. Then click on that version of the photo and it will open in a new browser window, and or tab, depending on how your browser is set up. Then just copy that URL.

Go back to your post and click edit, then just click the little insert image icon at the top of the post window, and paste the url into the pop up and post.
