@GibsonKramer Awesome... congrats... can’t wait to see the pending NGD thread!.
Just got to listen to the videos. My God that sounds sweet!!
The Golden Pearl is by far the prettiest LP I've ever seen. I came close to buying one when Long & McQuade had one. It was there for a few weeks before it sold, but the first one they had was gone in days, hence the stocking of a second. I couldn't get past putting $4000 CAD (taxes in) on my VISA card so I let it go.
Yeah, at retail... while I would have lusted... probably would have passed. I probably wouldn't have gone past "2015" and "modern Standard."
Coming in as used, and having it presented like that. I swear it was like out of Pulp Fiction, and opening the briefcase. Can't stop thinking about that guitar. I want to go in and play it, but I know I'll leave with it.
I'd like to at least get into February.
Problem is... I'm going to have to go in, to pick up my Studio Pro.
If it showed you it's Mojo simply by touching it, just think...!!!
It sounds as though it's already yours, so just go get it already!
One of the reasons I chose the HP version of my Standard was fret over binding. I wish Gibson would offer more this way.
Very nice looking LP
I had to suffer through this. So shall you. (unless you skip to the pics)
So the guitar is mine (had you going, I know... ). We squared some things away, agreed on a price. I took my '61 SG Reissue in, we start doing all the paperwork...
Then, I thought to ask the one question, I never thought to ask... as I was told, "yeah... the SG will definitely be enough to put it on hold."
"Is it available yet?"
Used gear out here, is ALL subject to a mandatory 30 day police hold. If you want to sell it, you have to report everything to the police. So I said... "I can't take this now, can I?"
My friend chuckled... patted me on the back, and says, "John, my good friend. That guitar was sitting there, because I had just brought it in." (damn... if I was ever meant to buy a guitar...)
That's why it never got put up on the wall. Why no one in the store knew about it. He had just taken it in, and hadn't had a chance to do more than the visual inspection, serial check, etc.
I was going to bring it home today, and give you all a NGD thread. Had already accepted I was just going to put it on my card.
Unfortunately I can't pick it up until FEBRUARY 25TH!
But, I did take some pics while I was there.
Couple of my buddy and the man that help build my collection. I know a lot of people get down on GC employees, and a lot of them are kids. They're flaky, they don't last long. Ricardo has been there for quite a few years, and probably knows as much about LPs as I do. Plus, he's an awesome guitar player, that doesn't make you feel like a scrub.
Amazing these are all pics of the same guitar. You'll see what I'm talking about.
@Christosterone ... you may want to look away.
Now, from different lighting...
And next to I think this is a Trad Pro. Not sure, as I'm not interested in it, so I forget.
I obviously played it. It needs new strings, but the neck is sublime. I don't know why they don't use that Asymmetrical Slim on most everything? The guitar is oozing with "it." I could very easily see this becoming #1 or giving my '68 RI a run for her money.
February is going to SUCK! Well, until the end.
I've got a LP future tribute with the asymmetrical neck that is supposed to be '60s, but is actually bigger than a '50s rounded, that is hands down, easily the BEST neck I've ever felt. If I could put that neck of everything, I'd be the happiest SOB alive.
That Looks sweet man..and ya, those necks are nice..you dont see them around to often..anyway, hope the month goes fast for ya..
I love gooooold!
Very nice. And no death bed signature on the headstock.
Congrats and HNGD
This was the only USA lineup guitar worth buying in 2015.
Good buy! Enjoy it.
So the wait is killing me. Since I traded in my '61 Reissue SG, there's an empty spot on my wall... sitting right next to my '17 GT. Every time I'm in the room, I just think about how the Pearl would sound?
Told my buddy I was going to bug him, the next month... so I asked when the best time to come in to spend time with it... and he said, right at opening. So I grabbed my JCM1H and took it in this morning about 10:30. Took a set of strings, and restrung it. Then went ahead and just paid off the balance... so I own it now. Plugged into an Orange 4x12, and we spent the next 2-3 hours, playing it dimed.
I'm sure we ticked off a couple customers... but it was pretty slow, so not many. Had a blast, however! Probably going to take in my JMP on Monday.
No, I didn't flip the image. Two different pics. I'm obsessed...
And yeah, it sounds and plays incredible. Intonation is spot on, nice action... and that neck!
CON-FREAKIN-GRATS!! I hope the wait passes quickly.
No further word from @Christosterone , I'm worried his head done exploded from all dat bling
Is that yoir JCM1H?
I died of jealousy like 4 pictures in on this page...
This post is posthumous
Yes, Sir... it is!
So many people wanted to hear it, look at it.
One guy came over while we were playing, and he starts looking at it, like it was a floor model. I had to butt in at that point, with a gentle... "its not for sale."
I've already got the first picture planned, once I get it home... more of a meme, really.
That really is a special guitar...
I’ts among the most elegant, beautiful gold tops I’ve ever seen...
So happy for you...
