After my absolutely jaw dropping gorgeous disaster, with a Premium Plus modern Standard, I said "never again."

I could not bond with that guitar. It sounded great, even though I'm not into all the push/pull, PCB crap... It did sound really good. I just really didn't like the neck. It was close, but not quite there. I eventually used it as trade bait.

Today, I took my Studio Pro to have some fret markers fixed. That's my VH guitar, always tuned half a step down, and gets played a lot. Lifting markers... grrr. It's one of Gibson QC issues, but my only experience with it. And the second time with this guitar. And I love this guitar. It was my first LP.

Anyways, as I'm getting ready to leave, I noticed a used Gibson case on the counter. I asked what it was.

    Oh shit!

A 2015 Standard Golden Pearl. My Pelham Blue is gorgeous... this thing, is stunning. You put it next to a GT, and just kind of stand there, with a slack jaw. Pictures do not do it justice.

I pulled it out of the case, and soon as my hand gripped the neck, I knew. I can almost always tell, just by that. I thought it was a '60s slim, but it's called an "asymmetrical slim." Doesn't have nibs either, which I confirmed through the Gibson website.

I told my buddy, "do not let that guitar go." He knows me, and he knows if I go as far to say that, I'm buying it. Never let him down, so I know it's not going anywhere.

Might take me a month, or two. I might go in today, and put it on my card. But, that guitar is MINE!

I have a blast with my mini Strat. Its what I pick up when I'm watching TV. Great for playing scales, as well. And I'm not done. When I can find a Grass Roots Mini LP 2H for the right price, its MINE! :cool2:

Though, my next Gibson was going to be a GT... I was going with another Classic. Not anymore... its redundant, with the Pelham Blue, and I would only be doing it for color.

I haven't even played this yet and just holding it, was oozing Mojo into my hand. If it sounds as good as my old modern Standard... it'll be mine, probably before end of weekend, if they give me a decent trade in on my SG.

When they opened the case, first person I thought of was you... and I thought, "oh man... Christopher is gonna shit when he sees this."

The pictures really don't do it justice. It is one of the most stunning guitars I've laid eyes on. The Pearl on the Gold is just perfect, with the light back.

Here... this video kind of shows off its sheer beauty, and certainly its massive character. And another one at the end of this post.

Wow! As was pointed out, only 9 posts and you're holding onto one of these? Man, I've owned, and still have a boatload of LPs, that is one of the nicest guitars I've laid eyes on.

Its like finding out what's in the briefcase, in Pulp Fiction.

    :photos: if you've got 'em.

I'm shocked really. No zero nut. The asymmetric, slim taper is a key as well. It doesn't feel like a Standard neck. It feels like a 60s Slim, with just a bit of shaving.

I leave you all with another video of its crunchy, creamy goodness.

Oh yeah... so the story on the guitar, is some guy bought it for his daughter. She didn't really get into playing the guitar, for the 4 months she had it out, so the dad put it back in the case, and into the closet. Its been sitting since. Has probably less than 60 hrs on it.

$3300 guitar, sitting in a closet.

Hey, bonus for me... because I'm not paying close to that.

It is an expensive Standard. Not gonna sugar coat that. Going to cost me close to the price of a new Classic. Actually more, because I'd get a sizeable discount on a new Classic. Not this one. They know, just like I do... if it ever hit the floor, it'd be sold within days.

    @GibsonKramer ,
Is the TRC “standard” written in gold?
Because if it is, my head may explode?

Everything on this model is eye popping...
    Even the pups are perfect....

Anyhow, I’m super happy for u and NEVER sell it...unless it’s to me :h5:
