I thought about this thread during a trip to Guitar Center yesterday to spend a Christmas gift card. I don’t think smoking pot would enhance enjoyment of my playing but it sure as hell probably would have aided in my tolerance for others.

I was talking w a friend of mine who back in the day was a heavy smoker, dealer but had to quit it all when he got a govt job with security clearance requirements. He did but is about to retire and speculates he will get back to it though hopefully not as compulsively (and here lie dragons) but we got into talking about the trend towards legalization which, despite certain regressives in position at present, I think is pretty much not only common sensical but likely. He was saying that once they got a breathylizer for weed that could tell if someone was currently under the influence it would help with the legalization. I think this was a good point for the pragmatists.

I'm sure it does for some, but, I can't stay focused.
Always sounds like a good idea to me. I'll take couple tokes,
plug in the Marshall, while waiting for the tubes to warm up, I end
up in the basement or shed on another project and forget all about it! lol

My R section I prefer stoned. I call them on the way to practice=40 minute ride,

"Tom+Shawn, I will be there soon. Smoke......drink.....lose thyself."

I'm "straight", the last thing I want is a Milk+Cookie band. FEZZband is drug music. I want my band and the audience WAY high. I have found when the R section is "wigged" we swing more. My guitar playing is precise, not the leads, but the Rhythm is. Drugs help the band not sound like a Mutt Lange production.

Dude, an inebriated rhythm section? Yikes! A singer or soloist a little buzzed I can abide with,,,,but the engine room? No thanks.:laugh2:

d, it creates "space." I'm playing for free, I want some thrills. We sound great, very Crazy Horse.

That's what repetitive riffs and grooves are for. :hippie::dude:

m, exactly. It took me 8-9 months to "teach" FEZZband,
"Let's just keep 'circling" until we feel dizzy. Have fun. This is sock-hop music."
R+R should never be "precious." This year I'm taking the reigns with booking shows. My bassist, Tommy, was doing the "stroking." No more. I want unpredictable shows. I actually may leave the stage and let the R section play to a "dirge" loop while I have a tea and a pee. Somehow you must breathe some life into the kicking carcass.

I say yes if I'm just playing around acoustically with no set goals. If I'm playing with others then no, it's detrimental (for me, YMMV).

I'm all about right note at wrong time, space, groove, mood.....never thought people needed chemicals to achieve such but that's just me. That's cool though. Variety=spice of life. I played with a stoner drummer for years whose meter and focus wandered like a lost lamb. Gimme a soul pocket any day.

I haven't done weed since I took up guitar again so no. Might try it when the wifey is away sometime.
As of today it is legal here and I don't think it will be as much fun anymore. :(

I used to drop a lot of LSD and play guitar. Smoked out and jammed a lot as well. It had its high points... pun intended. lol but in reality it didnt expand my creativity or anything like i was hoping it would (well... maybe the LSD did lol), but weed... nah. it just made me noodle more and get fixated on simple riffs and be like.... maaaaaan, that sounds so good.... but when in reality had i not been high i would have laughed at myself.

Today i dont have the desire to do so anymore though. I feel good naturally so I enjoy jamming with no mood/mind altering substances.

I DO NOT want to run into that bear.

That would be intense and insane.

    Wait . . . . . I see a movie, like Cujo, happening.

Ya. Let's reboot Cujo, but with bears.
