I can't play much better than HJ, but at least I only do it at home and only offend my dog.
The future of guitars was presented this day by the greatest innovator in guitar history
... but he can't seem to figure out that the arena for innovation lies with the brands he owns but does nothing with (Kramer, Steinberger etc); NOT Gibson- whose buyers, let's face it, are reactionaries who hate innovation.
Lol you guys are ruthless.
Exactly. He doesn't know his market, or worse, is trying to pull it along behind him.
His ex-wife Catherine said he made the same face beating off in the bathroom....
I have no idea whether or not the Other Forum may or may not be influenced by Gibson and/or money or gifts; what I did observe while there is that it comprises an inner circle of genuine vintage Burst owners (who regard that fact as making them superior to lesser mortals) and a rather larger number of sycophants and suckups, a forum where groupthink is the law and dissenting opinions are not tolerated.
The other side is what it is. Get over it. They do what they do, MLP does what it does. There is no "A" or "B'".
Gibson doesn't manipulate what goes on here. LPF? Well, another thing but I won't sling stones.
As to Henry's accumen...
"I read a comment here recently that stated Henry was running Gibson into the ground. I have to disagree."
Disagree all you want. Facts are facts. If business was good (as in HJ knew wtf he was doing), restructuring such as this wouldn't be necessary.
"they flooded their own market".
Another result of bad business decision
"Here is the best thing that has happened regarding their marketing position. As consumers we are seeing a great number of used LP's that are priced very fairly compared to years past."
If they were doing so well product and QC wise, people wouldn't be resorting to used in the numbers that they probably are. "Buy used" has never been a more used mantra than now.
Boy howdy that is something else!
that sort of highbrow jazz aint for everyone Mal
"Does HJ play guitar". Seeing the exhibits in this thread, I would say not just no, but h*ll no.
Well what do we have HERE? M&M rockin' the 'Bird????
I didn't know our forum was the "B" team. I thought MLP was the top of the heap.
Please close and delete my account here. I'm off to be with the top dogs!
In the immortal words of Raj Koothrapalli from Big Bang Theory: "LATER LOSERS!!"
jeeeeesuz. that's embarrassing.
...but he is immaculately in tune (after only two strums)!
Ted McCarty didn't play either but he was responsible for or had a hand in most of the guitars from Gibson that are now their main sellers..Some of which didn't sell all that well when first introduced and production was limited or stopped for periods of time.
Mr McCarty next to LP.
That pic reminds me of that thread where we would put captions on that very same pic.
Can anyone search and find that beauty of a thread?
Edit: I got it:
I'll necro it!
