Do you ever play "The Star Spangled Banner" or your Country's National Anthem on guitar?

you can figure it out pretty easily just playing around with the notes of an E major chord, which is how I stumbled onto it.

    Never even thought about it.

On the electric guitar, almost anything is gonna be a a pale and weak comparison to jimi Hendrix.

The melody isn't particularly original as it's origins are in a small handful of other nationalistic songs floating around England and France and...it's not particularly interesting. I mean outside of Jimi Hendrix. But I'd still skip past even his rendition for a better song. Like maybe voodoo chile.

    Meatwad just proved my point.

And dude, nice job. Your playing was pretty damn great!

    But what's the point?

I'm an equal opportunity offender here, because I wouldn't want to sing it either.

Hendrix gets too much credit for his rendition. I mean it's good but people act like it's the most amazing thing ever.

It was a protest, and he destroyed it in protest, but a lot of guitarists act like no one should ever play it again which is kind of silly.

Not to mention half of Hendrix's rendition is just noise. (the bomb falling sounds and tritones and stuff....the 'protest' part.)

It was a statement about America, it wasn't really a patriotic rendition so much as an intentional destruction of the song.

It's not a particularly great song to begin with but I've heard people do it better than Hendrix. I've heard women sing it a lot more beautifully also.

I'll agree on the hendrix version. Just ok and way too noisy for me.

Not since I first started playing guitar and have mostly tuned out anyone playing it ala Hendrix by the first note.

I defy an American to listen to this song as an instrumental, and not "sing" the words in your head. It's so ingrained, I don't think I can do it.

You should have rocked that with a beater-guitar, a long break-away cable, and sustained that final note as you stepped off the platform!

The $ you would have made by monetizing the YouTube video would have made you enough money to send your videographer to "learn how to hold a cell phone the right way when shooting video" school!

What I hate are the singers who have to turn it into 20 minute song by going through their full vocal range'

"Hey look at me, I can sing this high"

No kidding. Don't "make it your own". It belongs to everyone.

If you do a vocal-run during the anthem...... you need punched in the mouth.

Exception: Whitney Houston. She got her one free pass. No punch for her.

AND... she didn't rip into it. If she's not letting loose... none of you are allowed. None of you.

The rest of you so-called-singers...... punched in the mouth!

Ha!!! Hendrix's version is just ok!

What is EVERY electric guitar version of the ssb imitating? Jimi Hendrix. Pale imitation. Doesn't mean it's not impressive, or well done, but it's not original. There's only one starry night, or Mona Lisa....for a reason.

Im not even going to wait for a better version... there's simply no point, because It's already been done.
