Hey guys. I need some advice. I recently acquired a blues Jr and the clean is great but the drive is not so great. So I'm relying on a pedal for my gain. It's a wampler plextortion, I need recommendations on a delay that'll sound decent running in front of the amp since it has no loop. I saw Pete thorn do a video on this using an exhoplex. I'd like to stay under $100 used if possible. Thanks in advance. Also, does anyone here run a green back in their blues Jr, it's my favorite speaker, I was wondering how it might sound. Mine blues Jr is the Tweed one with the Jensen in it.

Marshall pedals are often sniffed at, but my Echohead is versatile, compact, very solidly built, has a great delay range, and can be had v cheap on the used market. They’re also good value new. I use mine pretty hard and it hasn’t given me issues in many years. I use it on the Analogue and Tape settings and it’s very unobtrusive. Switch it to HiFi and you’re in The Edge’s neck of the woods. YMMV.

I run a DD-20 into my tweed BJR. They can be found for a little over $100. And I love it...It's simple to use, clear (especially through that amp) and the two make a great pair. I have the stock Jensen, but did have the amp modded by ToneTron Amps. I asked Jeff to take some bite out of the top end, bump the low end, add a bias adjustment and put in a Switchcraft input jack. All for $110!

If you are not desperate for a real analog pedal, I would strongly recommend the flashback from tc electronic

Very versatile and has the toneprint feature.. sold new at around $150 so I believe it can go below $100 used

BOSS DD-7 does far more than I need. Great modulation setting.

Thanks guys. I'm not much of a pedal user. I would just assume plug straight in and go, but this amp needs an OD pedal, and I gotta have a delay for the kind of music I'm doing.

I am also a pedal minimalist, and I've been really happy with my Boss RV-3. Versatile, gives you delay and reverb (and both together) in one standard-sized pedal, has a lot of very cool sounds in it and can be found for reasonable prices on the used market, with a little patience.

you can probably find a Maxon AD-80 for around 100 bucks, that would be my choice.

Mockbel speaks truth. Toneprint software on the Flashback mini($99 new) and full size are worth the price of admission. Use the software or presets to shape the tone. There are many good delays but none with this option.

Under 100.....possibly a BOSS, pretty hard to beat older BOSS pedal.

    +1 for the mini

I didn't know that it has toneprint too...
To be honest I don't use most of additional options in the full size Flashback as they are more towards stereo application of the pedal which is not the case with me.

Does the flashback play well in front of an amp since I have no effects loop, does it play well with OD pedals?

Just make sure to put it after the OD in your chain.

    At least to start with.

I play my Boss in front of a clean amp. It could likely sound like ass if you are playing into a dirty amp. Like Jymbo said, dirt needs to be in front of delay.

Flashback mini works on all my amps plugged into front of amp. Like all have said. Put it after OD. I put it after OD/Distortion but before clean boost. YMMV

I use it in the loop but from other replies seems like it should work fine
